We take a departure from our usual 4/4 and instead head into dystopian Drum & Bass/Jungle territory, courtesy of Ded Sheppard. Onset Audio proudly presents their 200th release, featuring remixes of signature tracks by leaders in alternative drum & bass: Red Army, Fuj, Owl, Out Of Fuel, dreadmaul and Akinsa. Moody, cavernous atmospherics are emphasized on six experimental bass arrangements. Red Army's take on Ded Sheppard's Run Baby Run is a blistering bass march featuring a hard 4/4 kick progression over unsettling horror samples. Fuj goes into more esoteric territory with an off-kilter reverb-heavy rendition of dreadmaul's Inka while Owl reshapes Lums & [[-CRBL-CTS-]]'s TRIBLMS85 into ominous, spacious orbits. Ded Sheppard is featured again on Out Of Fuel's remix of The Youth, featuring a repeating acid line, progressing with paranoid intensity. dreadmaul slows things way down with a cinematic, downtempo reimagining of Dimensional Dryft's Monuments while Akinsa rounds out the release with a punishing, percussive redub of Madikma's Reason. With over a decade of steady releases, Onset Audio continues to push the boundaries in dnb, halftime, and ambient- this EP is an encapsulation of their sound....
