Patrick DSP has been smashing sound systems around the world for several decades, starting in his native Canada, and finally landing himself in Berlin, where he currently resides. Beginning his campaign of techno in the mid 90s in Toronto, he soon delved into the production side of things, and eventually managing. A quick study in the technical realm, he fast found himself manning the buttons for renowned labels such as Kne’ Deep Records and Unknown Forces, providing mastering, production and remixes for various labels, all the while building his repertoire of twisted pristine sounds.
In between jumping from Canada, to Brazil, to Berlin, Patrick managed to expand his abilities, not only making music from film scores to blistering techno, but also using his mastery of production to teach others their way around a studio, giving classes and lectures around the world. Never one to rest on his laurels, he was also performing across Europe, South America and North America, spreading his techno sound from intimate local clubs to festivals such as the Love Parade in Germany, ADE, MayDay, Awakenings, Kazantip, Fabrik, Florida 135, Tresor and many more.
His musical skills, along with his diverse range of technical ability, have not only resulted in an impressive discography of international releases, but have also allowed him to collaborate with some of the most talented names in techno, earning him the reputation of a true techno Renaissance man. DJ, Live Performer, Producer/Composer, Remixer, Sound Designer, Audio Engineer, Mastering Engineer, Label Manager, and Teacher; Patrick is a force to be reckoned with in the techno world.

The pulsating and oscillating sounds of the opening track titled “Intangible Society” sets the tone for this EP, which is then taken a step further into the relentlessly dynamic and aggressive sounds of the next track, “Detached”. “Manboo Cafe” stands out due to it’s nuanced acidic tonality, while Yakkushi’s remix of “Intangible Society” is noteworthy for the way it substitutes the harsher sounds of the original track with cryptic overtones, resulting in a harmonious amalgamation of industrial and mystical sounds. Whilst Abstract Man’s remix of this track stimulates the track with even greater vigour with the inclusion of rhythmic and playful watery sounds.

Ninth release of the Canadian label Defmain(): signed by the Serbian techno talent Electricity Is Humming.

Emanating from the intercontinental connection of techno music between America and Europe in a globalized style that cherishes nuanced interpretations. It amplifies the cultural synergy between these continents.

Electricity Is Humming reveals with Aradia his vocation for dynamic, dark and full-bodied structure techno. The self-titled opening track uses cycling sequences that are drifting into mantra inducing surroundings. Daunting cymbals and polyrhythm percussion are a constant reminder that everything could change.

The B side track Lilith is characterised by disturbing pads filtered to metallic resonances, the amalgam results in a deep perceptive ambience. The sound is acute and urgent, a combination of almost manic synthwork and menacing progression. Peak time bassline that lays on top of the kick drum that marks time in a reassuring manner.

Artist Quote: "Aradia is my second release as Electricity Is Humming. It is inspired by witchcraft myths and stories. Catalyzing all my energy to create a throbbing beat and hypnotic vibe invoking witchcraft rituals."

Rebar go full-on dystopian on their "The Rise Of A Crisis" EP on @made-of-concrete. Despite the suggestive title, the first two tracks were composed before the crisis period, yet seem to fit in "perfectly" with the times.

Title track is an immersive incursion padded with drone zaps and warped basslines that instills tension as well as elation, as the tension is released. 'Ray Of Light' offers some much needed introspection in a slice of heads down dub techno with a slight progressive tinge. Drums are the quintessence of rhythm on 'Enter The Void', as percussion creates endless spiralling loops of infectious grooves. Ahead of his full release on the label, Alexander Kowalski joins with a reinterpretation of the title track. Known for aptly fusing elements from classic Detroit and historical Berlin techno, it’s this imprint that he applies to the track, turning it into a sleek, electro-spacey cut.
