Barely Surviving

The planetary mc known as Codell hails from the northwest region in Portland Oregon, do to his father being an alcoholic, Codell was raised by a single mother, along with his 3 sisters, the young mc had to learn quickly how to take care of himself, all though he was often in trouble while growing up, he still always knew that hard work would be key to his success, at an early age he was instantly drawn into the world of hip hop, by age 15 Codell began writing and performing his own raps, after years of hard work and self critique, Codell has managed to mold himself into a unstoppable wordsmith, known for his complex word play and live performance, Codell cites 4 major influences that have helped shape him, and his approach to the craft, known for being a rapaholic, he can write and freestyle with the best of all time, in 2008 he was raided by the Washington county interagency narcotics unit for growing and selling marijuana, after receiving 4 class A felonies, Codell ended up serving a few months in county jail, during his time in county, the mc had a strange dream that he was working with Immortal Technique in his studio, this dream had left him feeling even more motivated towards really pursing his music, after being released Codell started hosting a public access Hip Hop show called The Underground, by Dirdy Dogg Productions, through the show Codell was able to interview artist like Tech N9ne, Royce da 5”9, D12, E-40, and one of his personal favorites Immortal Technique, during his time hosting the show Codell begin performing his own music live none stop throughout the Portland area, after 3 years of hard work, Codell was invited to go on his first big tour, 3 months later and one day after his post prison supervision ended, his bags were packed and him and 2 other friends hit the road, with his first chance to perform throughout the US, Codell made sure to seize his opportunity his stops would include cities like Chicago, and St. Louis, as well as El Paso TX, and Phoenix AZ, after returning home from his first tour, Codell released his first official mixtape called the Rough Draft, it included songs like Hustlers Autobiography, and Couldn’t be saved, as well as collaborations with Landon Wordswell and Randal Wyatt from the speaker minds, Codell then went on to create Thoughtz Unknown, the purpose of the group is to create a global collaboration of independent artist, Dj’s, Bboy’s, producers, directors, promoters, and peace makers who’s main focus is to spread a message of hope, love, acceptance, and, equal opportunity for all, Codell officially released the first Thoughtz Unknown project in 2013, the project was called Thoughtz Unknown, after the release of his second mixtape, Omekka from the international group Famsquad took notice of Codell hustle, and invited him to perform at the world famous music festival  SXSW in Austin TX, after his performance at SXSW, Codell shifted his focus to really taking his music career to the next level, with his first EP getting ready to drop and a dedication to being a touring artist Codell is poised to go down as one of the all time greats in the world of hip hop.
