In the major label system, driving in just one lane is a marketing necessity, but with indie label Toucan Cove (distributed by Universal Republic), nurturing creative voice and inspired but unique music is a specialty.  In Code Red, four exceptional but inherently different ingredients come together in a very special dish – the traditional, deep rooted Hip Hop style of El One, the new school hyper-flow of Manfred, the pulsating dancehall styles of Junior Dread, and the electro-pop/Hip Hop production of DJ K-Dogg.

From the sexy grinder of “Midnight” to the radio-ready “Candy Canes,” Commercial Break delivers uncompromised rhymes with unforgettable beats.  While the entire record provides great club flow, the hands-down stunner opens the record:  “Don’t Take Me Away” is a haunting, powerful, southern-infused diary of a man on the edge of a bad decision.

Code Red has built quite a reputation off of their energetic and entertaining stage shows.  They have put in the work to prove it by sharing the stage with the likes of 50 Cent, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Wyclef Jean, Trey Songz, and a ton of other super stars.  While working on the new album, Code Red managed to stay busy touring with Afro Man, doing spot dates with Nappy Roots, and rocking numerous college and fraternity shows.  The group also created quite a niche for themselves in the sports entertainment world by drafting theme songs for the University of Louisville Cardinals football and basketball teams, the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs.  The Chicago Bears theme song was featured on an NFL Films DVD about the Bears championship season, and the Chicago Cubs theme song was featured in a full length motion picture titled “We Believe: The Movie.”  They have also had songs featured on ESPN, MTV’s “Yo Momma,” and the Speed Network.  Add the mix CD’s “Reinventing the Game” Vol’s I & II to the equation, and it’s plain to see that the only break Code Red took was a Commercial Break.
