Disquiet Junto Project 0601: Hard Six
The Assignment: Let a roll of the dice determine the relative prominence of various parts of a track.

The project was inspired in part by recent correspondence with Junto participant Robert Precht. More to come in that regard. 

Step 1: Choose six brief segments of sound that you have recently recorded. Or record some new segments now. Either way, select six of them, and label them one through six.

Step 2: Roll a single die for each of the six segments chosen in Step 1.

Step 3: The result of each roll in Step 2 represents the relative presence of that given segment in a finished piece of music. Think about how the pieces might relate to each other. This idea of relative presence can mean whatever you want: frequency of appearance, relative volume, intelligibility etc.

Step 4: Record a piece of music in which the relative presence of the segments chosen in Step 1 correlate with the results from Step 2.

Used dice rolls to establish a polyrhythm sequence on the Elektron Analog Rytm with samples I recorded from the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter. Opted to use a D20 die to give more chance of distance between triggers and hopefully more variance in the pattern. Each roll would determine the length of each track, with a trigger placed on the last step. Originally tried rolling two more dice to determine which samples would used from my sample pool, but ultimately I felt that extra level of randomness was not producing pleasing results and it completely removed any creative element of human choice.  However, I did keep one of the random samples selected in the same slot and I put another random sample selection on a different track that fit the timing better.  I made four sets of rolls and pursued each pattern for a bit. The final results I am presenting were made by rolling 17, 11, 19, 3, 5, and 9. The track is named for a three dimensional shape with 20 faces.

This is an experimental track based on the soundscape https://soundcloud.com/rabmusiclab/aankomst-amsterdam-zuid. 
In this original track a field-recording from an IC-train has been used as base and was transformed to a special soundscape.
Following the Disquiet Junto Project 0601 (details see below) six short sections were cut out of this source and rearranged to a new track, the number of overall repetitions of the different sections determined by throwing a dice.

Shibuya.

It's the stage for the "Ninja Game," and you are one of its participants. Your mission is to find the other ninjas who are hiding among the general populace, concealing their true identities.

One day, at the bustling Shibuya Scramble Crossing, you sense something amiss. Among the ordinary youths, one person stood out, radiating a special aura. You decide to approach him.

This moment marks the beginning of the most famous couple in ninja history.

As she speaks to him, he looks surprised, almost as if he's seeing an old friend, murmuring, "So young." He is a time traveler. The two of them quickly hit it off, combining her business savvy with his futuristic technology to earn a fortune and achieve great success.

Together, they open a casino in Shibuya. However, as time passes, his actions begin to cause problems. Exploiting future technology for personal gain, he gradually becomes known as the "Notorious Ninja"
