Matt Caines is a creative producer, extending his roots through music, experiential and environmental design. A New York native, he has performed and produced events internationally, creating a haptic and participatory space that moves people, causes a reaction, instigates change.

Matt’s style is sophisticated and an ever-evolving musical narrative evoking emotion through rhythmic vocals, curated melodic tunes with a timeless musical selection.

Matt Caines continues to explore the power of musical platforms by pushing cultural exchanges of new sounds. With an initiative to connect purpose and place, in 2018, Matt moved to Tulum and where he became the managing partner and a co-founder of Art With Me, Tulum’s first large scale arts & cultural festival. Art With Me was a huge success in attracting local emerging and international artist, celebrating the creative arts, inspiring guests to live their best lives, while giving back to the community.

"This is a recording that was captured from an impromptu DJ set at Ahau Tulum, on Saturday April 24th, 2021, after a live performance from Rico Loop just finished. The sun was setting on the beach and the energy was beautiful - a crowd of friends and family filled with smiles and happiness. It reminded me of a sunset you would have found on another playa, just this was full of sand instead of dust. My musical selection reflects that -  a throwback to those times and great memories. 

To be honest, this was not the mix I was planning on submitting. I spent a week organizing music and tracks to tell a beautiful story, but I guess Tulum and the universe had something different in mind. For some unexplained and unusual reason the recordings of the mix continued to have audio interference separate times, yet 2 other records done on the same recorder came out perfectly. 

The inspiration for this mix is that and simple - to be present and enjoy the moment instead of overthinking things. I hope you enjoy and look forward to when we can all connect together again in person. Thank you for listening."

This mix is my freedom mix, a mix where I touch certain styles between my spectrum of dance music. You can find many moods in it. Also there is some unreleased music from my own label Quetame and some other projects I did (or still working on). 

Also a side note; as I just finished this mix, my first gig after almost 1,5 year awaits me. I will see and touch real life dancing people again, the thought of it makes me happy :)

Heute reisen wir musikalisch ins schöne Wien. Das junge Heimlich-Kollektiv hat es sich auf die Fahnen geschrieben Österreichs Hauptstadt das Downtempo zu lehren. Mit viel Liebe für die Deko und einem mehr als gelungen Booking (Martha von Straaten, Caleesi und Bernstein), haben sie sich rasch eine große Fangemeinde erobert. Als logische Konsequenz ist daraus auch gleich eine fantastische Podcast-Reihe entstanden, die mit ihren bisher 4 Ausgaben auf voller Länge überzeugt. Aber auch die vier Heimlich Artisten Oberst &amp; Buchner, Oliver Rottmann, Späk und leschueft sind (un)heimlich gut.

Für die heutige Ausgabe habe ich leschueft gewählt. Er ist mir bereits im März mit seinem fantastischen „Journey Down the Rabbit Hole 2016“ Set aufgefallen,  woraus auch sofort ein sehr freundschaftlicher Kontakt entstanden ist. Es folgten weitere grandiose Podcast für meine Lieblings-Reihen wie Kentaur, Sunset Grooves, Deepist oder NachtEin.TagAus. Sein musikalischer Background reicht vom HipHop, France House, Drum’n’Bass bis zu Minimal, Deep House und Techno … hat sich aber nun voll dem DownTempo verschrieben. Ich schätze an seinen Sets sein Feingefühl für den Stimmungsbogen und den Mut Tracks einfach mal ihren Freiraum zu lassen. 

Für uns hat er einen besonders gefühlvollen und magischen Herbst-Mix eingespielt, genau das richtige bei dem Schmuddel-Wetter. Mathieu vielen Dank für diese fantastischen zwei Stunden. Und nun aufs Sofa und Musik an … Welt aus.

We are thrilled to have one of our favorites, the Toronto-based boss lady Jenner, for our special Burning Man Decompression Mix. 

"Each time I venture into the dust, something changes. It’s a time for reflection. A time for transition.  It is a time to open one’s eyes and heart to new possibilities. A new vibration takes hold of me. 
This year, our burn started with palpable love and gratitude as two beautiful souls united as one while I played the Mayan Warrior. It felt like a dream. It still does. Moments like this can make you question reality. That’s the magic of burning man."  

About Jenner: 
Jenner (AKA – The Dark Princess) started her musical journey in 2002 when she discovered an after hours club in Berlin, Germany with fellow backpackers. It was at this moment that Jenner began her love affair with underground electronic music. From 2002 to 2007, Jenner regularly attended Toronto’s night clubs and after hours that hosted many of today’s biggest DJ’s in the scene but it wasn’t until 2008 that Jenner bought her first set of CDJs and mixer, and began honing her skills as a DJ.
Since then, Jenner has played many Toronto clubs and events, including Coda, Summerdaze/Bespoke Experience, and Promise Cherry Beach. Her upcoming debut on the Mayan Warrior at Burning Man 2018 is slated to top her list of most memorable events, in addition to Camp Summerdaze and Harvest Music Festival.
Jenner is known for her deep infectious ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, hypnotic melodies, and perfectly selected vocals to captivate her audience further. Deeper. Darker. There is an excitement on the dance floor that’s palpable when Jenner gets on the decks. Close your eyes and feel the energy through the music.

I always found it challenging to record a studio podcast: my analytical mind is trying to calculate every move, evaluate each transition & criticize the selection. I have time, music & equipment at my disposal, but one key element is missing to really tell a story: humans.

I encountered that problem last weekend. Although I was playing music I enjoy, I felt that my technically structured mix was too stiff and impersonal. 

____

Then, some of my favourite humans turned up at the studio. As Ashley, Apolline, Axel & Robin entered the room, the studio was suddenly filled with a great energy & I felt like pressing the rec button again, just for fun - this is when the first minutes of  S y m b i o s e  were captured.

I feel this studio mix is an authentic representation of the energy levels I like to navigate through during a longer set. It features some of my favourite tracks in a nod to the past but also has a touch of the future; new sounds that are moving me forward & some of my new compositions.

I’m happy to share this mix as I’m taking off for Argentina, what marks my first adventure of the decade. This music session brought me clarity, presence & joy! I hope you'll resonate with it.
