Uncertainty, excitement, expectations and hope define pretty well what’s behind the launchment of a space mission. Everything has been calculated,  measured and prepared, but reality is always unpredictable, so results and success are never guaranteed. Experience and intuition may help in order to reach the desired planet’s orbit. Italian artist Alessandro Russo, known as Evod (@evodmusic), has used both to deliver Sonde Spaziali EP, the new release on Exoplanets’ 30D Sub label, a tribute to four different spatial projects that have taken place in the last decades from different parts of the world. 

Techno has been, almost since its inception, an excellent soundtrack for spatial exploration, as experimenting and having no boundaries in creation are key to start the trip. In Sonde Spaziali, Evod, fully aware of techno’s potential, recreates all the complex emotions kept into the challenge  of  reaching  space,  being able to bring us back to Earth to share and spread the discoveries, fully dance floor compatible. Codeword welcomes In Half Light (aka Michael Wells), the Berlin-based London-born DJ, producer and label boss of Weekend Circuit. In Half Light has recently released music on In Silent Series, Metempsychosis Records and his own Weekend Circuit label, including a collaboration with Ossa Di Mare and with remixes from Lucy and SHXCXCHCXSH. In Half Light is also due to release a track on UVB-76 early next year and is working on his first solo EP. As label boss, Wells has released music from the likes of P.E.A.R.L., Kwartz, YYYY, Alfredo Mazzilli and Pär Grindvik. As a DJ, Michael Wells/ In Half Light has played regularly at Corsica Studios, Tresor, Griessmuehle as well as in Tbilisi, Amsterdam, Bogota and Buenos Aires. In Half Light’s mix for Codeword on Threads Radio is a rolling, hypnotic, dance-floor-focused stomper with intensity, depth and groove.

Obsession is a mind disturbance produced by a fixed idea, which with tenacious persistence assails the mind and dominates and monopolises the intellectual attention.

Genesis P-Orridge dedicated their life obsessively to artistic creation and transgression which s/he used as tools to fight against what is established in today’s Western society.

This track is my tribute to their figure and artistic legacy. And a way of understanding art which unfortunately is in disuse. I have also been lucky enough to have Speedy J contribute his vision with a remix of the track, creating an exceptional wall of sound piece.

Madalba was born in July 1985 in Bari, south of Italy. From a very young age, her musical interests moved across a broad spectrum, going from house and dance music to rock and punk leading her lastly to techno and club-culture. 

At age 22 she approached the local scene as Djane with numerous performances in the club circuit of Bari. Through the years she has developed a continued and careful respect of the musical experience. She moved to Berlin in 2011 and started DJing with only vinyl records. This helped her to build a strong reputation as an underground techno DJ, providing opportunity for her to play in clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, SchwuZ, SO36 and Mikz in Berlin where she lives today. 

In September 2011, she moved to Detroit where she started the collaboration with DJ Seoul, Tom and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia. This travel has definitely and radically changed her approach to the techno concept, which she considers more a political and social phenomenon and a lifestyle than just a musical genre.

From 2012 till 2016 she joined the party Homopatik as resident dj.

Her first releases on vinyl came out in 2014 on DTM-Label (Detroit) and Arkita Records (Berlin), the label that she spawned together with Synkopheit till 2016. 

In 2017 she launched her own record label Future Déjà Vu releasing 5 EP respectively by Transient X4, Ken Karter, Mannella a.k.a. DHARAXT, Phontonz & Shcuro, Rage Therapy.

In September 2017 she played her first house set for the summer closing of the Berlin based party Buttons. 

In Summer 2018 Madalba became resident dj at the historical club Tresor in Berlin. The same year she collaborated with the London based crew Aria with a party series in the UK capital. 

Currently, she is techno resident dj and co-organizer of the party Buttons in About Blank teaming with Danilo Rosato, Anna Bolena, Jabob Meehan, Shingo Suwa, Akirahawks, Paolo Di Nola and Stanley Schmidt. 

Since 2019 she is part of the roster of Pullproxy.
