Codeword | Threads Radio Residency

For our final show of 2021, @codeword-london hosts Biri, one of Tel Aviv’s finest electronic-music exports. @biri1990's signature blend of trippy, hypnotic and deep techno releases have been snapped up by leading labels including Len Faki’s @figure.official, Inland’s @counterchange-inland , Derrick May’s @transmat,  and most recently with his latest EP, 'Untitled Drift' on Psyk’s @nonseries.

Biri’s musical and geographic journey from his hometown Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, via Berlin and now London, also includes a successful collaboration as artist duo Deep’a and Biri and founding the label Black Crow. As a solo artist in his own right, Biri is pushing the boundaries of deep techno and IDM and is on a trajectory that merits serious attention.

Codeword w/ Biri (Threads Radio - 16 Dec 2021)

Codeword returns for its first Threads Radio show of 2022 (episode 27) hosting Viels (@viels), a rising star among a new generation of techno artists. The Milan-based artist has charted releases across labels including Non Series, Semantica, Dynamic Reflection, Edit Select and most recently a 4-track EP on @oscarmulero's Warm Up Recordings.

The founder of End of Perception (@endofperception) and resident at Milan's Acquario Immersioni is gaining recognition for his rugged, mechanical,  intense and groove-filled releases and DJ sets, and this 1h vinyl-only mix for Codeword is no exception.

Codeword hosts Sabinē (@sabina-inoyatova), the Riga-based, Uzbekistan-born DJ, producer, club-programmer and event promoter. 

Sabinē is making waves across central and eastern Europe and Eurasia with her direct, industrial-infused techno - and this 1h mix for Codeword on Threads Radio is no exception.

Having played alongside the likes of Nina Kraviz, Answer Code Request, Perc, Sigha and more, upcoming dates include a debut in Baku, Azerbaijan and an event at her home-base in Latvia with MCMLXXXV.

For Episode 29, Codeword hosts Raketka, the Belarus-born DJ, event organiser and electronic-music educator. Since 2009, Raketka has travelled the world with a bag of vinyls, spanning Santiago de Chile, Berlin and landing in southern India, where she holds a residency at Cirrus club in Goa.

Once noted for her Detroit, dub-techno and acid influences, in recent years @Raketka has been recognised for her 'out of genre' DJing including making the shortlist for Mixmag mix of the year and appearing on Boiler Room. Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @motiv_a for its fifty eighth episode of Amplify Series.

Magdalena K., known by her moniker motiv-a, is an NYC-based DJ and producer. Since 2009, she has been working in visual art, sound, and live performance, appearing in clubs such as Bossa Nova Civic Club, Trans-Pecos, and Elsewhere, as well as Berlin's Ohm, Säule, and Tresor. She has also been a part of the sonic alchemy of event series such as VSSL in Los Angeles, Lost Souls Enterprises, and Synthicide in NY.

Inspired by esoteric human ritualistic practices and transgressive musick, her live hardware electronics and DJ sets summon forth a collection of weird electronics from transcendent darkwave, hypnotic techno and new beat, electronic body music rhythms, experimental noise and punk, to dystopian industrial and dark ambient.

Berlin-based DJ and Tresor resident Maedon will take you on a journey with some mind meltin techno showcasing her unparalleled mixing skills which ignited the smooky dancefloor of berlin's legendary tresor.

Maedon's upcoming launch of Rant & Rave Records promises to unleash her fierce passion for music onto the world. Her latest LP on the legendary Sonic Groove, "Now I AM Become Death," is already causing a stir in the techno community with its hard-hitting beats and irresistible electronics.

Starting her journey in the gritty streets of Baltimore, Maedon's experiences have led her through the urban soundscapes of Brooklyn and ultimately to the techno capital of the world, Berlin. Her sound is a reflection of her life's journey, absorbing the influences of the industrial scene and transforming them into her own unique and mystical creations.
