The album is a tribute to Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for Sega Genesis. All tracks were created using the instrumentation of the game. 11 tracks corresponds to the 11 levels in-game. This was accomplished using the plugins RYM2612 and RYMCAST both made by Inphonik. Being that the music uses the same sounds as those used in the 2D Sonic games, the music is 16-bit chiptune featuring tracks that would fare well for a tropical lagoon, all the way to the grimey pits of a cave.

My goal with this whole album was not to do a full music redesign of the existing music in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, but rather to take those instruments, and make something 100% my own. Some tracks are definitely inspired by the levels themselves though. Thank you for listening.

This is my 2nd album called "Special Stages"

This is sort of a sequel album to my first album "Emeralds" in which I used the instrumentation from the game Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and created all new tracks.

While that album utilized sounds from the levels, Special Stages takes some non-level music and does the same thing.

Hi there! My name is Cody and I’m an aspiring video game composer. As of writing this, I’m starting on a 15-week program I’ve created for myself to write more music, learn audio implementation in Unity and Wwise, take music theory courses, and to interact with other musicians, artists, and game developers on Twitter and Instagram.

As far as music goes, my goal is to produce at least 2 songs a week, whether I end up liking them or not. This is going to help me write under pressure with deadlines looming. 

This is my first piece of the bunch titled “Wasteland”.
