its on the tip of your tongue 
but your lips are sealed.
theres a story in your eyes id love to learn about.
but you can’t open up
you got a wall around your heart too big to bulldoze yourself
you need a helping hand
every time you find a sweetheart you secretly pray that maybe they can.
you can’t let anyone in because you’re afraid that when they see whats behind it they’ll hate you…
fear is crippling in that way. you wish you could but unfortunately it’ll take an army to knock it down. 
you’ve seen too many horrible things.

so you just sit on your couch with the curtains cracked 
like your heart 
day in and day out 
admiring at the palm trees in the breeze outside of your window
knowing deep down that they were gods gift to you
there to remind you that if they are so beautiful to you then you must be beautiful too
the trees dont know how lovely they are in your eyes, they just dance in the wind…
just like you dont know how stunning you are to the world, you just are.
and that analogy alone, makes you feel a little better.
if gives you hope that maybe one day you won’t be stuck inside yourself and youll be in on the enchanting secret that is you 
because the rest of the world knows something you dont know 
which is that every time you smile you light up the room.
you dont ever see yourself smile and its a shame, because when you do its the most graceful thing. 
just like the trees dont know that every time they blow in the wind its magic

your heart behind the wall is like you behind your apartment window. 
it wants to be free but it doesn’t know how to be.
you want to go outside but you can’t.
