Fourth edition of my radioshow on Operator Radio. It is called A Concrete Pasture and this fourth edition is all about Italian library music. The trip starts with some smooth and jazzy sounds from maestro Alessandro Alessandroni and the magnificent Oscar Rocchi, before dissolving into abstract atmospheres with music from the mysterious M. Zalla, Antonio Luciani and his imaginary sister Maria Teresa. Maestro Egisto Macchi takes us to the desert and we get out of these arid lands through India with Giulia Alessandroni. Once we get back to civilization there’s a party waiting for us! Giuliano Sorgini and Sandro Brugnolini are there, and Oscar Rocchi and Alessandro Alessandroni join in as well. Enjoy the sound of Italy in the 70s!

Blech II: Blechsdöttir

For my tenth (!) show on Operator.Radio I selected some of my favorite jungle / drum&bass tracks from the mid 90s. This stuff still sounds so unbelievably fresh and futuristic. The sound of a future that never came. And even in its early days it was all over the place and so diverse and it mutated every week. 
To start it all off I picked an early track from Squarepusher. I was 18 years old when this stuff came out and I had been record shopping in London and missed my flight back home, so I was booked on the next one, early the next morning. It was around 7 o'clock when I finally reached my bed, and I put my freshly bought copy of Squarepusher's first album on to fall asleep. My brain was rearranged for good at that particular moment. It opened up worlds of bass, electronics, library music, jazz and everything in between it. Total perfection.
I've always been a fan of Luke Vibert, and he is still going strong. That's why I included a new track of his as an exception to the classics approach for this show. It's just very retro and cool and fits perfectly with his Plug track coming up in a few moments. 
Between that there is a cool track from an album by Icarus, a jungle project by the guys who later on became Springheel Jack. That album 'Kamikaze' is very cool and loose and really worth checking out. On to the coolness of 4Hero's R&S side project Jacob's Optical Stairway, one of the best jungle albums out there, but Boymerang's Balance of the Force is even better and probably my all time favorite. Boymerang went on to make lots of very good music as Bark Psychosis, but this stuff is classic in it's own right. J Majik always delivers en Your Sound is rightly considered as one of his very best tracks. T. Power made some ambitious singles and the Police State EP is one of them. Very technical stuff.
We're entering the kill zone now: Source Direct, Optical, John B.... Stone cold classics. There is also a great L Double track from a Reinforced compilation (Enforcers: Above the Law) that I kind of rediscovered while making this show and I can't stop spinning it. So funky. 
I went to the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions at Blue Note in Hoxton in the summer of 1996 and Doc Scott was there, playing stuff like this Swarm track, with Kemistry and Storm also doing cool stuff, and I remember being blown away by very large speakers in a very small basement. A totally alien experience.
To put an end to things I included a Makai track based on a sample from the Ghost in the Shell score by Kenji Kawai. A killer track, but also a reminder of the dark and stiff turn the whole tech step branch of this music was about to take, which eventually put me off jungle and on to other music. This mix is a portal to the time when this music was the future. It still sounds like it today.

His discography includes a split LP with Legowelt(with the undeniable dancefloor splitter 'Lobo'), 'The White Spider' at our friends from Gooiland Elektro & his recent banger on Syntax Electronix called "Young World".
