You could hardly make it through the door, let alone to the bar... From wall to wall, friendly faces both old and new talked hurriedly, making up for the lost time they'd spent sitting in their pants in front of the telly, longing for that first schooner. The music buzzed and excited voices rose and fell till the dreaded final orders arrived; you'd never leave here disappointed but you might not remember leaving at all...

Our favourite London boozer have taken their first steps into the label world with 'Gun Aid', a 14-track release featuring music from card-carrying members of the pub — it just so happens that the majority of their nearest and dearest double up as cracking producers and musicians too. Across the LP, you'll find contributions from Róisín Murphy, Ivan Smagghe and C.A.R, Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Quinn Whalley, and many more friendly faces who've regularly graced the pub over the years.

Ahead of the release of the full compilation, The Gun tease a four-track EP titled 'Time At The Vortex', which features tracks from Daniel Avery, Scott Fraser, Cherrystones and GLOK, with a portion of the proceeds going to Hackney Quest, a charity working with local families.

The tall tree stood isolated amidst a field of long grass as the last of the daylight beamed down upon the wind town reeds. Soon darkness would fall and engulf this place in a thick black smog as the clouds rolled in slowly from afar out at sea. The heathens would gather to observe a beautiful ceremony later that night, they would dance beneath the towering branches and banish the tainted spirit of the night into the great abyss beyond. This was their interpretation of a dream, their ceremony, their haven. 

Kazuya Nagaya's music has been reimagined on a new release by SCI+TEC. Tracks taken from the "Dream Interpretation" album released last year have been remixed by an eclectic array of producers including the likes of Vril, Yotam Avni, Markus Suckut and more. Our highlight comes in the form of a remix by Amsterdam producer and techno pioneer Steve Rachmad.

Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an instant classic from the moment of its release in 2010, and at long last the band has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year anniversary package (minus one lost year), that once again establishes the timeless quality of the track with a fresh and versatile package of new remixes.

Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end.

It was yesterday's news, thrown out to be drenched in the pouring rain. Though she'd disagree, nobody cared anymore, they'd already moved on to the next disposable piece of gossip. That was just how things worked, the life cycle of information, regardless of its validity, was shorter than most...

In recent years the underground electronic music scene in Mozambique's capital of Maputo has begun to garner some attention across the pond, put on the map by artists and producers like reputed beat maker and all round musical polymath Nandele. Having been surrounded by music from a young age, Nandele's influences stretch far and wide, from early influences like Fela Kuti, Kanda Bongo Man and Hugh Masekela to the 90s hip hop beats he used to freestyle over and the grunge band he went on to play drums in at the latter end of the decade.

All of these experiences further ignited his love for drums and later his move into electronic production, which has led to releases on the likes of Kongoloti Records, Already Dead and now London-based imprint Cotch International. His new EP is about challenging preconceptions of what a Mozambique artist should be creating and sees him blending elements of industrial, EBM, minimal synth and heavy hip hop beats with traditional instrumentation and mythology.

In the small village, whispers quickly became truth, ancient legends became scripture. Many stories had passed through the generations about the old man and those who'd come before him; he'd been painted as maleficent, as the strange offspring of evil powers. The anger that these rumours caused began to boil up inside him, but he found nowhere to direct it, instead he bottled it up and continued to keep himself to himself. Here, people thought these tall tales gospel, and so he ostracised himself, scorned by stories beyond his control. Perhaps he'd simply meant to exist alone.

Recorded over three years (then sadly delayed for another year due to Covid) the next release from the Invisible Inc camp is finally seeing the light of day — and it's well worth the wait. Coming courtesy of Belgian multi-disciplinary artist Strapontin, who follows releases on Hard Fist, Optimo Digital Dance Force and tablon, the four tracks (backed by a remix from the ever-dependable Sascha Funke) see him depart from the dancefloor, instead exploring fuzzy rhythms and sleazy EBM and punk influences.
