I liked playing with Pripyat Pianos so much today that I did a second track...a little bit of jazz using a piano in the space of the top floor of a ruined hotel in Pripyat.

Tricky one today as I lent out the dongle that lets me plug in all my music peripherals so I had to make this music using my laptop keyboard...still it helps to learn some new tips and tricks, and I felt like the result had a bit of a feeling of someone uncovering a mystery so I made this picture of someone peeling back layers of colour to 'uncover' something.

I'm starting to integrae the rest of SOTSOG from Logic to Cubase and...it's going pretty slowly. I've got all the parts across but need to set up the instruments again while fixing some elements that got borked in the process and it'll all need a bunch of mixing. Maybe even I'll rewrite some parts once I've got the rest in.

I've spent the best part of today feeling that I'm very close to finishing the mix and master and even publishing my Hero Rises EP...but found a series of issues and things that need to be fixed...culminating in some digital distortion that seems present in some of my favourite libraires. I've done some temporary fixing to remove the worst of it (removing the instruments in the troubled parts) but I think there's still a couple clicks in here that I need to hunt down. Oh well, it's all a learning experience. Support request sent to Orchestral Tools, and the EP is going to need to wait until at least tomorrow to move forward.

Today I decided to go back and add a little more interest to the arrangement as an additional exercise. I think the biggest win was adding a bit of melody to the bass...it plays nicely with that top melody, but also extending the octaves between the celli and bass as the piece progresses adds a bit more drama, and then just a bit of tweaking of the middle parts to avoid some parallel lines brings a bit of richness to the harmony.

Created using 48 instrument tracks on a 2 x 3,33 Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro using Logic Pro X with 13 GB of RAM used to load all the desired sounds without track-freezing or bouncing.
