Hey everyone, Steve here! I’m very excited to share that, in addition to everything CWC on the way, I’ve been working on a new solo project called Spiral Seas as a place for me to share my piano instrumentals and other ideas and collaborations.⁣
⁣
This first song is called “Lullaby." After a few months of trying to find the right song to kick off this project with, this song came together and just felt right. 
⁣
I’m really proud of this project—instrumental piano is one of my absolute favorite things, and it’s been especially important for me during times like this. I’m looking forward to sharing more with you soon and I hope you're all staying safe and able to find daily moments of calm.

Thursday is a song about personal growth and defining ourselves in defiance of our obstacles. It was written about Brian’s feelings during quarantine toward the beginning of May, but in light of recent tragedies, and in the process of editing its video, the song has taken on new meaning to all of us.

Written in quarantine, this song is a celebration of the people, places, and pursuits that inspire you—or simply get you through—in the midst of uncertainty.

It's also a declaration of thoughts of regret. At the beginning of the pandemic, I caught myself misusing my time and thinking how I could have shaped moments in my past differently, which very rarely helped in the moment. This mindset wasn't unique to the pandemic, but the feeling was compounded by a few key events I experienced during it. It's been far more rewarding so far as I aim to shift those thoughts to the things I don't regret for a second, and the positive changes still to come.

It feels fitting to dedicate this video to my longtime friends Chris Poresky and Gaby Caparimo (the best California hosts one could ask for). - Steve

It’s hard for me to put to words how much The Righteous Brothers’ original rendition of “Unchained Melody” means to me. In high school, I’d listen to the song nearly every day on my walks to and from class. The rises and falls, the perfectly fluid fluctuations in tone, the slow build to a desperate yet triumphant crescendo—that version of the song, perhaps more than any other piece of music, inspired me to start learning to sing. That magical, classic, major version of the song, to me at least, is untouchable. 

Our rendition is a minor reimagining of “Unchained Melody”—an exploration of the darker tones and atmosphere the song has to offer. We hope you find the song to be a fitting companion for pumpkin carving, foliage watching, voting, and other festive autumnal activities. —Brian
