The new single, "Just Begun" from Buckshot & P-Money's upcoming album, 'BackPack Travels,' features Raz Fresco. 

The 19-year old MC and producer, from Toronto, Canada, has brought on Duck Down Music to provide co-management, and distribution for his label, Black Light, which Raz owns with long time manager, Soze Brooks. Raz Fresco is prepping two mixtapes for the remainder of the year.  'The Screwface Tape' will be released in late June, followed by 'Pablo Frescobar.' 

'Backpack Travels' is out June 24th on Dawn Raid / Dirty Records / Duck Down Music.

Fans in the New York Tri-State can catch Raz Fresco performing on Tuesday, June 10th, alongside Boot Camp Clik (Buckshot, Smif N Wessun, Sean Price + Rock of Heltah Skeltah), CJ Fly of Pro Era, Chelsea Reject, T'Nah Apex and Statik Selektah at the FREE Duck Down BBQ in Betsy Head Park, Brooklyn. The showcase is in conjunction with City Parks Foundation and runs from 6PM to 9PM.

Oddisee - Odd Seasons - 04 Everyday People

District formed with the intent of creating music that both drew from mid-'90s East Coast hip-hop à la De La Soul, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and Gang Starr music that showcased the often overlooked Washington, DC rap scene. Comprised of two MCs, X.O. and yU, and producer/MC Oddisee (who has also released a handful of solo albums and produced tracks for Jazzy Jeff, among others, and is part of the Low Budget Crew with Kev Brown, Kenn Starr, and Cy Young), the group first introduced themselves to the hip-hop community by releasing a series of singles in the late '00s. In April, 2009 Diamond District put out the clean version of their debut full-length, In the Ruff, for free music blogs, and garnered enough press and attention from it that they were able to approach hip-hop label Mello Music Group with evidence of their fan base and why they should be signed. It worked, and the label released the unedited version of In the Ruff in October, 2009 with plans for a follow-up, titled March on Washington, to appear the next year.

Posdnuos of De La Soul explains, “When we first heard about this project we were psyched on the challenge. We pride ourselves on being able to get bodies moving, so it was cool to do it with a specific goal in mind – giving runners the sonic fuel to clock some miles.”
The release also features cover artwork by famed designer Joe Buckingham.

"The idea behind Jansport Strings is not based on it being literal, but more so in the figurative sense. As a kid in NY, the strings on your Jansport bag were a sign of power and presence. Kids would steal the strings off of each other's bags and burn the tips to prevent getting robbed of them once they got them. The song is a 3 minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn and seeing more than my friends and I had bargained for. In essence, my Jansport strings tied it all together, seeing what we all saw and what it made us. The ending is a clip from Video Music Box, the legendary NYC video show run by DJ Ralph McDaniels. This episode in particular was the debut of Chi-Ali's 'Age Ain't Nothin But A Number'. Seeing that video that day on this episode of VMB made me start rhyming. This clip was literally the moment that changed my life." -Skyzoo
