From Chicago, now Harvey Illinois relocated, KIID joined the Footwork circles and started producing really early in his life. This is how he first met DJ MANNY and linked with the Teklife constellation. After his super acclaimed debut "Aftermath EP" (on the excellent Booty Tune label!) with widely sought after star-track "Magalenha"; KiiD comes back with a very tight sequence of raw Footwork extravagancies in divers styles and perfect delivery. His drum patterns and compositions splash that unique balance of freestyle courage, crafty precision, and urgent –straight to track- production style and process. DOMINOWE brings a banging Gqom remix. This is for the clubs, for the circles and for anybody into those glorious Footwork (and Gqom) vibes!

(1) The atmospheric opener "Smokin dat Kush 18"  is a classic trippy Footwork affair updated with KiiD’s uplifting drums.
 
(2) Prominent track "Said It" is flexing melancholic R&B flips with focused and upfront switching beats, also comes with wide room vibes and lots of changes throughout the track. Classic! (Immediate DL with pre-order.)
 
(3)/(5) Two other tracks are shifting gear to full electronic melodic swirls combined with even more robotic groves with the “eyes down” vibed "No Play" but also the epic "Final Round" pulsing blissful vibes half-crossed by a futuristic and frenetic bass buzz, this one cross-tracked with DJ Manny. Damn!

(4) One of his most recently produced track, "Quiiiiccckk", sees KiiD properly snapping with a savage, sonic club assault. If you're a DJ and you drop this one in a club set you know you’re brave. Probably the most “militant” track of this madness of an EP! A true electronic ghost is in this machine!

(6) From Durban, South Africa, Dominowe signs the only but heavy weight champion remix of this release. Bang! The young maestro rewires and re-deploys with ease "No Play" synth loops into a powerful Gqom drum build up and roller coaster, large vibes included in this one too! Surprisingly the original acid Footwork flavour totally blends in with the whole sounding as if it would be an original and not a remix! Also very cool to have an original encounter of these two crews/scenes now officially linked through this organic remix.

Feels so good to finally release this one, it’s been some real workz.

The Coldpakk Show 04.05.2019 feat. DJ Comaz & m.traz

Coldpakk regular KiiD comes back for his second EP on the label! 100% footwork business here in its purest form boldly re-wired with a diverse set of free-minded explorations. 

The two first tracks expose a more minimal rhythm style coupled with longer phrasings over self-recorded vocals and melodic backdrops sounding at their best while mixed allowing DJs for way longer blending times. The equally sparse "ID" stands aside with its dense and scary arrangements supporting sinister atmosphere while drums quickly escalate to the more complex and busy programing KiiD is known for.

The last two tracks take on a more aggressive turn aiming for club banger status. Reminiscent of the Teklife aesthetic "U Can Get It Gurl" hits hard first and from the start, before progressively softening just bit to make room for evolving melodic elements and constantly refreshed drums. Celebratory-minded "But It Aint New Tho" probably steals the show still with pretty much the same ingredients arranged in fireworks mode. KiiD simply juggles with all elements bouncing off each other like dub only to deploy his most advanced and hardest vocal edits.

We are so grateful to have a track from AMEN The Producer @amen-producer in our catalogue!!! So many of his tunes made their ways in our DJ sets for the last 3-4 years. The producer, artist and DJ from the Bronx NY handles a wide range of styles from trap and hip-hop, house, Jersey inspired club to his own booming strand of footwork. He is also a member of the terrific Papi Squad collective frequently co-creating with them.
The 'DJ Trak' is a hard Jersey Club assault stripped down to its core elements allowing one enormous bass kick to take the entire room at times. AMEN’s distinctive craft shine through the entire trak with skippy hip-hop vocal edits, extra large bass pounding kicks, echoing chants, percussive tones and constant rhythm variations.

Budapest based DJ/producer AO UZZI is mostly known for being an active member of the global 160 BPM community with his Budapest Juke imprint & collective, dope juke/footwork productions or his recent appearance on Juke Bounce Werk’s latest global compilation JBDUBZ Vol 7. But his first Coldpakk release, the “J-000 EP”, documents an excursion towards slower tempo with an interesting collusion of house, rave and Jersey club elements with various uneven dosages tested differently across four tracks.

While J-0002 literally sounds like a tight jazzy house track with club elements creeping in little by little, J-0001 unleashes restrained & tense club grooves over peaceful soundscape and hypnotic vocal chops. The exquisite J-0003 challenges slowed down Jersey club patterns with bold synth melodies and jazzy textures. Final track J-0004 featuring Walen Delon adds more spice with rave/breakbeat sounds powering through club esthetics.
