slow news day

This is track 2 from the upcoming EP Own the View by The Brotherbears.  It's inspired by Taylor Swift's blend of country and pop on her 2012 Red album. It tells the story of my first love in high school. I just love the flow and how it stands up with no chorus needed. The song form reflects my love of traditional folk ballads and the beat is inspired by hip-hop and pop. The banjo is actually my producer Chad on keyboard.  So fun. 

Sky As Is

This is a remix moment for a song I've played live for years. The symphonic elements and late 80s dance beat make me so happy. The vibe is Smiths meets Depeche Mode and the synths bursting through on the chorus are pure joy.

Crawling Home

This is the first single from my upcoming record "Skylines." It's about being young and having your whole life ahead of you, even if that life turns out to be harder than you ever knew it could be. It's about old friends and making amends. It's sad but hopeful at the same time, like most of my work.

First Avenue

This is a little song I wrote about the street I've spent the most time on-- Lake Street. I'm positive I've spent literally weeks or even months on the 21 bus. From Uptown to Midtown to East Lake and the river, there is something for everyone.

Good Times

Hello to all. I'm Coleman Lindberg and I'm an indie/folk/pop-type singer/songwriter based in St. Paul, MN. I got my start in the church, singing in choir and arranging hymns for solo piano. I later attended the Perpich Center for Arts Education where I really started to write. I dropped out of college at age 20 to be a folk singer and travel the country and the world-- which I did--surviving as a street musician. In the late 1990's I fell in with a group of radical artists, musicians and activists. We created a queer folk/punk music scene in the Twin Cities, and I got to play clubs like the Fine Line, First Avenue and 7th Street Entry and The Cedar Cultural Center-- both solo and with my band Winter Machine. Over the last 10 years I've performed on and off, releasing a couple of recordings but mostly spending a ton of time writing and trying to improve my skills. I made the decision to re-join the industry last year and am currently enrolled at McNally Smith College of Music for business as well as songwriting. I have a new record tracked, mixed and mastered. With the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign through RocketHub, I have secured funding for CD reproduction and will be releasing the new album on October 6, 2013.
