In a sleepy little place called Tinkertown there’s a mystery of sorts:
Two manikins, a girl and a guy are dressed out on a porch.
Depending on the weather, he and she outside are suitably dressed and together they sit like people on a porch.

When I’m driving by- I slow down to see.
I feel like such a spy. What are they wearing?
It’s kinda rude to pry but not like I can go up and say hi. (that’s crazy)

The people on the porch.
Weird people on the porch.
And I’m the dummy watching this fashion mystery,
and wishing now that I never did see those people on the porch.

In the winter they wear scarves and hats, ski jackets, and warm pants,
Summertime it’s beach attire; margaritas in their hands.
It’s fun to watch their story, soap opera quality; 
like that week, they refused to speak with backs turned stubbornly. 

It damned near made me cry- such a tragedy. 
I wanted them to try. What’s come over me?
I called a flower guy, but hung up when he started asking why. (exactly?) (don’t ask me!)

Then one day in Fall- I could hardly breathe.
They were not there at all. What was happening?
That’s it, once and for all! I went up to the railing, I didn’t stop to think but then I saw the notice with so much great relief: (on va-ca-tion!)

It's a small town, and there are eyes everywhere...everyone says look out for Boo because all the signs say "Keep Out" "Beware" It's all about trash talk and rumors that can isolate. WHATS THE STORY: I know this dog, he was real. He used to guard the nearby junk yard.  I would rather make my own mind up about things, and so discovered that Boo was really a wonderful, intelligent, gentle but fiercely protective canine.
Because he was chained, and feared, he was so alone. This song, written in his memory, is fun, upbeat, and full of life because, once he got to know me, we used to run wild and had the best adventures together. All good memories for me, and I hope, a good song for you, so far. I think it needs a little something more to explain how amazing he really was, and I'm giving that a lot of thought. Until then, the flattop rockin' guitar in here cooks in Atkins, Perkins, Cash, and more. Enjoy.

Life Is Day At The Fair, Official Release

This tribute song has been through a neat process.  It came about because I was asked to open the 500th performance of "The Folk Revival" radio show on a National Public Radio Station. This got me thinking about how being a Singer-songwriter started, for me, by hearing the music of other women Singer-songwriter's on the radio. A tribute to them seemed right. Although the song I performed for that live show is different from this version because I included bits of their songs, which I thought was perfect because the station is covered by Harry Fox Contract, and so covers are ok.  My trouble began when I wanted to record the song. I am a singer songwriter who writes originals, my journey into exploring how to get permission to keep those bits got very tricky because I was dealing with some iconic establishments, and their AVI department heads. I did give it my best but the logistics became insurmountable.  I did not give up, instead dug down deep, listened to my heart, and crafted a more subtle tribute that did not impede anyone's copyright.

This song is all about gratitude. When you hear a song that makes you fall in love with the magic of music all over again, there is history there. Music has evolved from the deepest feelings, from hearts that found a way to set it all out in a song. Fans that fall in love with a song carry it forward and help it grow.  Did you ever fall in love with a song?  I did, and this song is a tribute to those women in music whose music helped me grow through inspiration. Call it retro, call it ol'fashioned, I don't care what you call it, theirs is the music that got music to where it is today, and I STILL hear their influence right here in my heart.

Singers be true to what you love and sing your song, YOUR way so that those hearts that hear will make room for your inspiration and keep music growing STRONG.

Today my friend and music-colleague, Mike Doyle,  finished up his very first studio CD, I took his picture as Joe Clapp, the studio owner/operator handed him his finished CD and they shook hands. Then, to celebrate, we sat around and jammed on this brand new happy acoustic jam! I wrote it for the nature-loving people who smile with kindness, tolerance, and always find their place in the sun. This song provides fantastic first person lyrics that reflect that deep connection. The guitar work, reminiscent of Django Rienhardt, is delicate yet powerfully emotive. The vocals match the style beautifully. A gorgeous song, that's made many a grown man cry.
