if you are not interested in a yap about my absence and demotivation, feel free to skip this. tldr: the scene sucks but shoutout to colombia and big things coming soon.
I’ve recorded this mix of 90s Trance songs last year as it was the last creative impulse i felt before losing interest due to lack of support from the local community tbh. i didnt record it on any cdjs, it was done on my macbook, so transitions arent the best.
making music, albeit not actually doing work but rather just shuffling already existing work, cost me about 3.5-4k so far and i've not even made 100€ back in gigs when i was actively djing and yet it seems like without excessive amounts of marketing, narcissim and a fake persona, meat riding, an artist, or someone who tries to do some sort of art, wont be appreciated by the masses as they yearn for an experience beyond the pure experience of music. people can no longer enjoy something without compulsively and ostentatiously reminding themselves and those around them that what they are experiencing is a real spectacle and that they can only distinguish themselves through what they consume culturally and only through what they consume culturally. the local techno scene and the culture are crumbling while its loudest advocates simultaneously need to chase the next event, the bigger event, the more hyped event, its like using a drug or a speculation bubble where you need to invest more to legitimize the ever inflating bubble which is doomed to burst sooner or later. just this one more event, just this one hyped collab just this new concept just this new FOMO generator, bro wtf? like i dont want to be a big stage dj but i dont see l’art pour l’art anymore i just see l’art pour l’argent. i would be willing to throw another 3 to 4k down the drain if at least people would express some sort of support and appreciation but now every event is fast culture like fast food. the only people that kept my from canceling my soundcloud subscription so far are some colombians i dont know but over the last 2 years, colombia has been my most active fanbase, often even more supportive than my local area. and if there are people around that still appreciate it, i’ll find time again. big things coming soon.
