Following an enchanting inaugural offering from German electronica outfit Ameli Paul back in April, burgeoning Berlin-based imprint MEIOSIS now returns for its eagerly anticipated sophomore outing, welcoming Juan Hansen and Pablo Bursztyn – a.k.a. Forma – for another mesmerising label debut.

A stunningly crafted four-part package, replete with hypnotic modular soundscapes, ethereal toplines and succulent analogue experimentation, Hollow EP is the first extended body of work to be released from the Buenos Aires-based duo, and comes complete with a brace of eclectic remixes from esteemed house producers Nandu and Santiago Garcia.

Christening the release with the evocative title track Hollow, Juan and Pablo make their intentions known from the off, as they take the listener on an emotive and harmonic smoke-screened journey, accented by warped synthesisers, haunting vocals and a playful mixture of subdued four-four beats and elastic rhythmic triplets. Toying with aural imperfections and melodic disarray throughout, Forma’s work honours emotional ambiguity and harmonic dissonance, cultivating a sound that can be equally euphoric as it can be melancholic.

Within this ambiguity, Forma find a place to liberate themselves from instrumental boundaries, creating landscapes that value coincidence, intriguing sound choices and a degree of sonic unpredictability. The second original, Everytime, portrays an unusual kind of music that will, in its abstract layers and polyphonic structures, balance both the familiar and the surreal. Combining disputatious organ chords with avant-garde vocoders and arpeggiated instrumentation, Juan's electronic sound experience merges with the experimental spirit of Pablo's musical quest to create an eclectic journey that exhausts one mood at a time.

The flip sees the introduction of two of the most exciting producers on the underground house circuit, as Nandu and Santiago Garcia each step up to deliver their own unique interpretations of the formidable title track. First up to the plate is Argentinian-born, Valencia-based Garcia. Following a wealth of critically lauded releases on the likes of Innervisions, TAU and Exit Strategy over the past few years, the classically-trained producer digs deep to deliver the artier, more introspective of the two remixes, before handing the reigns to iconic Danish stalwart, Nandu, who closes out the remarkable package with a deep, melodic dancefloor groove, primed for the early hours.

This seminal EP release follows Forma’s remarkable recent live performance for venerated Montreal-based digital festival MUTEK. Always expanding its limits to subvert the expectations of the listeners, this spellbinding live show was in fact the first presentation of the Hollows EP project and marked the premiere of the four songs to be released on July 16. Berlin-based, Franco-German producer and DJ Franz Matthews, alongside well-known happiness coach Jonathan Lehmann, have crafted a thumping, hypnotic EP that combines music and the practice of guided meditation as one.

We’ve collated remixes from a spread of some of the greatest minds in electronic music today, including Aera, The Organism and Milio, to create their unique interpretations of this pioneering project of mind and music.

Franz Matthews’s original brings a complex web of interlocking percussion rhythms that develop with unfolding synths throughout the guided meditation to reach a soul-shaking climax. Transporting us on a journey through the mind with a captivating piece of musical storytelling throughout.

Aera steps up with the first remix, carving out a spacious story that casts the spotlight onto the spoken word vocals from Lehman, combining elegant rhythms with contrasting layers of subtle harmonic movement and mind-altering synth melodies that engage the inner recesses of the brain.

The Organism takes things into a more aggressive, percussive direction, using his archetypal sound to traverse across the planes of your mind. Off-kilter synth tones collide across a punchy Moog style bassline and grooving disco-tinged drum machine grooves underneath.

Finally, Milio brings his distinctive club sounds to the blend. Mixing glitching rhythms with wandering melody lines that integrate elements of minimalism and techno into a joyous and playful reworking. Milio’s distinct ability to craft memorable lines that are equally unique and quirky closes this superb remix package off with finesse.

Comprised of Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Yulia Niko, four out of five members of the group come together on Disconnect. Following the release of the Starlight EP in May, Scenarios collaborate with songwriter, singer, and producer Hannah Noelle on vocals.

Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Emanuel Satie deliver a warm but club-driven vibe on Disconnect. Brimming with emotive chords, tinkling piano notes and smooth drums, it’s the kind of tune that’s appropriate for a peak-time festival set under the sun or a packed-out afterparty. Hannah Noelle’s velvety vocals evoke a balmy atmosphere, snaking through a low-slung bassline and bright synthlines. A tangible blend of spiritual and vibrant energy, synonymous with the evolving collective.

Individually, they are known as Maga, Sean Doron, Yulia Niko, Tim Engelhardt and Emanuel Satie, each of whom are established performers in their own right. Together, they become Scenarios. Only two releases in, Black Coffee, John Digweed and streaming platform Cercle have supported the label, while peak spots on Beatport’s Top 10 Chart have proved consistent. Born in France, Maga’s discography boasts releases on Flying Circus and Get Physical. Berlin-based, Watergate resident Yulia Niko has become a world-renowned artist in recent times, with material on Watergate Records and MOOD. Although Collé may seem like a newcomer, his experience certainly isn't. With years of production of many different music styles, his involvement and interest in people and cultures ensured that he developed a unique sound, with a lot of emotion and depth. It feels like a new way of expressing himself through his music.

In 2018 he took the scene by storm with his track Owami, one of that year's anthems. Solomun, Âme, Bedouin, and Black Coffee are just a few of the well-known artists who heavily supported the song.

Collé is one of the creative minds behind the label Point in Time. This imprint focuses on a vocal electronic music direction, being mindful to steer clear of clichés, all the while reaching a wider audience with its unique releases.

The first single on Point in Time was Collé's own ‘Losing Time’ featuring singer and songwriter Kauf. Losing Time was one of Dixon's secret weapons that year, entering the Beatport Top 100 and Tale of Clubs "Best of 2020".
