Just a little something when for when I'm bored. Wanted to experiment heavily with buildups and riffs. Not bad I think. By the way, the guitar riff is from "Thunderstruck". Not mastered yet but hey, it was just for fun anyways. 

Thunder

A track all about finding something with your friends that only you all know of. If the world finds out what you have they'll ruin it. Enjoy it as long as you can keep your mouth shut. 

Waves Where Only We Know

You are walking along the beach alone at night asking the Universe questions, hoping for answers. You stop dead in your tracks as before you is a large black and white ringed sea snake. This is the answer you have wanted and this is how you feel.

When you think about any human action, from twiddling a pen to riding a surf-board, and try to explain that function with mathematical equations you run into a interesting problem - the Description will never be as detailed or complex as the action itself. The mind and body as a unit will always be better at calculation than the systems we employ to describe that process. In other words, easier done than said. Now think about that fire-twirler and enjoy the music. 

Easier Done Than Said

Think of this as minimal techno, except all the instruments are real, organic, and locally sourced (just like a sustainable Bali community...but super if it was a super dark and scary-as-sh*t community). Enjoy this ghostly, freaky, repetitive and evolving piece of Balinese music written by a white guy...Unless you are tripping on Bali shrooms. If you are tripping on Bali shrooms just skip this song - you might see demons like the one in the picture man! :P (but seriously, you might) 

And Now For Something Completely Different

Anger is not a bad thing, rage is what is bad. Anger is like a dirty current of strong electricity - Bad for the curcuit it runs through, but excellent for the machine it is directed to power. With Anger you can do great things as long as you clean the current at some point. Enjoy the sound of my anger, the experience of my anger being channeled. I bet you would never expect what you are about to hear. 

Anger Can Be Useful

This track is made almost entirely from free apps for idevices. I didn't have the correct connector but I did have a headphone line that I was able to connect to my soundcard so I just "sampled" the iphone and put everything together in Ableton. I love ios, it's so stable for music making - even free music apps run beautifully (most of the time). List of apps used: Core Synth, Figure, Music Studio, Modular. 


Generation I Mastered

A nice ethereal mix of groove and theme come together in this dark Nu Disco track where a disco string section fights for control of the sound-space with an electric saz from the orient all underpinned by a bending, driving bass and a old rhodes style organ giving the whole thing some tension.  I made this before I knew what Nu Disco was and never finished it. While looking for the project file of a different song I accidentally pulled this up and went "oh my god! It's Nu Disco" and subsequently dusted it off, gave it a few finishing touches and now here it is for your hearing pleasure. Enjoy.

Vision

Collokation Cowboy is a DJ (DJ Brett) and Music Producer working independently. He lives in beautiful Bali and is an adventurer with stories to put even the best grandfathers to shame. As a DJ he focuses on Nu Disco and various types of House, but as a producer he likes to expand beyond borders - more of an ethnomusicologist/composer than anything else.
