The Carolan Brothers are a 6-piece folk and roots-rock band hailing from Drogheda, Co. Louth. Originally a covers band for music lovers, paying tribute to the pioneers of folk-rock, The Carolan Brothers have developed into an impressive song-writing collective, with a sound somewhere between Seattle folksters, Fleet Foxes and our native R'nB outfit, the Strypes. Lamenting the lost art of song-writing, the band place an emphasis on storytelling in the folk tradition, punctuated by memorable melodies and sweeping musical interludes. The band have become known in their native Drogheda for their distinctive vocal harmonies, and continue to draw an esteemed local following with their raw, natural sound and retro-folk stylings. 

Their live show boasts the musicianship of an outfit beyond their average age of 22, while retaining the spontaneous atmosphere of a traditional sesssion. This is a no bullshit, nuts'n'bolts rock band. The group rely on their almost palpable chemistry to work up the crowd, and they let the instruments do the rest. There are no gimmicks: the only unnatural sounds you might hear at a Carolan Brothers gig are the whails of a distorted guitar or the warm vibrato of an electric organ.
