Just going through (very) old files and I stumbled across this cover of one of my favourite songs that, until now I don't think, has never had an airing (the cover, that is). I figured SoundCloud might be the place for it.

I'm putting the final part of the next album's Big Track on SoundCloud for a few days (or maybe longer) for Father's Day. 
Until very recently - last week even - this was the last time I had a vivid dream about my Dad.

Years have gone by. I am in the grounds of my old school, at the foot of the hill. It is not snowing, but it has been. It is only just beginning to get dark, but still not dark enough to diminish the whiteness of the thick snow. The trees are bare. There are no other living creatures anywhere. No people, no animals. The air is filled with a thick silence. I can hear only my breathing and my feet in the snow. I see a man in the distance in a black coat with his back to me. My breathing and footsteps quicken as I run towards him. I know it’s my Dad. I reach my hand out to tap his shoulder but before I can do that he quickly turns around. It’s me. It’s my face and body, and clothes, but I know it’s my Dad. He talks with his voice, although not saying much. It is cold and I can see his breath. It isn’t said, but I know we both feel that we have had enough time apart to grow and heal. We spend a long time together, still and silent, absorbing each other’s company. We don’t smile or look at each other very much. He finally looks me in the eye and says with quiet seriousness: “we should talk more often”. We embrace, and he leaves. I wake to find I have been crying.

A (terrible quality) cover I whipped up this evening of one of my favourite ever songs by one of my favourite ever bands :)
The original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIs5wYJFktU) is such a good love song because the lyrics are so abstract and seem to just be random metaphorical phrases about feeling at home with a person, I can't think of any other love songs that do that. Plus, the melody and chords ('naive' because they repeat throughout the whole song) have the potential to be really beautiful and although they are in the original song, they're kind of hidden behind the beat and the bassline.
When we heard Gabrielle Aplin's version of FGTH's The Power Of Love, my mate Billy said it was "beautiful but there's too much of that around these days", but I thought I'd give the Gabrielle Aplin / Slow Moving Millie treatment to this one to see if it sounded good.
I recorded this live and then dubbed a harmony over it so excuse the really awful quality, still getting used to recording with basically no equipment since my laptop and all my stuff got stolen :/. Also I sing in a mega high falsetto so sorry about that xD I'm gonna do a decent version of this when I can because I really like the sound, but that's Talking Heads for you :D
