When Dylan Lee Snelling launched his SARiKAiDEN side project Colorful Shapes, he set out to make the music as distinctive as possible, and that's exactly what he did with the debut album, Abstract Patterns. 

Whilst there are inevitably going to be some similarities between this music and that of his SARiKAiDEN project, the differences can be seen mostly via the tone and theming of the music. 

Song's produced as SARiKAiDEN are typically short, fast tempo, upbeat and catchy songs, whereas songs produced as Colorful Shapes are long, slow tempo, with a heavy emphasis on repeating patterns and simple pulsating melodies. 

Some artistic inspirations for this album include Deadmau5, I_o, No Mana, and Rezz.

In many ways, Dylan Snelling’s second Colorful Shapes album, Your Text Here, is a direct continuation of Abstract Patterns. He began working on the project not long after Abstract Patterns released to the public, and he set out the make these new tracks sound similar, but not identical to the tracks found in Abstract Patterns. The similarities don’t stop there though, as someone with a keen eye is probably likely to notice the strikingly similar album covers, albeit with different colors and swirl patterns.
