Chasing Ghosts

Making their collaborative debut on Purified Records, Serra 9 and Somyu unveil the immersive ‘Ocean’ EP. The title track opens with swirling melodies and deep, hypnotic grooves - blending Serra 9’s textured production with Somyu’s delicate, piano-driven touch to create a sound both fluid and expansive. On the flip, ‘Final Signal’ delivers a deeper, more introspective cut, layering atmospheric pads and intricate rhythms with subtle emotional weight. Together, these tracks form a captivating journey through melodic soundscapes and nuanced storytelling. A seamless fusion of both artists’ distinct styles, the ‘Ocean’ EP marks a standout moment for the pair - introducing a refined collaboration that leaves a lasting impression.

Taken by Brooke Pyke, the ‘Ocean’ EP artwork features a pair of young humpback whales cruising the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. Brooke is an award-winning marine life photographer from Australia, based on Ningaloo Reef in WA. With a background in diving, she now focuses on ocean, travel, and adventure photography, capturing the beauty of the underwater world since 2014.

Each year, humpback whales migrate thousands of kilometres to the warm, sheltered waters of Western Australia’s Ningaloo Reef to breed, give birth, and raise their young. The Australian Institute of Marine Science (@australianmarinescience) supports research across these vital ecosystems, using science and technology to better understand and protect Australia’s marine biodiversity

Returning to Purified Records, Russian duo Garlington present their evocative ‘Chasing The Moment’ EP. Opening with ‘Remorse’, they set a reflective mood with emotive melodies and a subtly grooving rhythm, building a rich sense of depth and atmosphere. ‘Weightless’ follows with a lighter touch - blending crisp percussion, airy textures, and luminous piano chords into an elegant indie dance moment. Closing the EP, the title track ‘Chasing The Moment’ delivers a dreamlike journey through flowing synth lines and immersive soundscapes, striking a perfect balance between serenity and drive. A showcase of Garlington’s evolving sonic identity, this three-track release reinforces their place as a distinctive voice on the label.

Taken by Rachel Moore, the ‘Chasing The Moment’ EP artwork features waves crashing on a barrier reef on the island of Mo’orea, French Polynesia. Rachel is a professional underwater photographer and environmental advocate dedicated to capturing the wonders of marine life. With a special focus on the grace and intelligence of humpback whales, her storytelling inspires a deeper connection to the ocean and a commitment to its preservation.

French Polynesia is home to one of the world’s largest and most remote marine protected areas. Pew Bertarelli Ocean Legacy (https://www.pew-bertarelli-ocean-legacy.org/en) has been instrumental in supporting this achievement, partnering with local communities and governments to establish and manage large-scale ocean sanctuaries.

New York-based duo Anden make a welcome return to Colorize with the arrival of their next release on the label with the exceptional 3-track EP 'Migrations'.

Opening with the percussive 'Brookland', Anden bring a light-hearted, flowing opener to their next EP that displays the US duo's eclectic influences in a brilliantly Progressive, melodic insight into two of the scene's brightest up-and-comers.

Next up 'Ronda' continues Anden's tribal influence with a funky, drum-laden production complete with chirpy chords and an underlying groove throughout.

Closing the EP with 'Trio' Anden's 'Migrations' EP finishes with a darker, more progressive touch. Moody low ends accompany chunky drums and glowing synth stabs to round out another impressive EP on Colorize for the New York natives.

Dachshund‘s love for music goes back some twenty years. Throughout years of experimenting with different dub, jungle and drum & bass sounds, he has developed his own defining style. His sound is marked by rhythmic, housy compositions with playful elements and a potent bassline. On his first Bar 25 Music EP, we hear the artist Dilby alongside three original tracks by Dachshund. Dilby perfectly rounds off this release with a melodic remix of ‘Mysterious‘.

Riding high off the back of his much-lauded Second Mood EP on Diversions Music at the beginning of March, French maestro OXIA now teams up with Italian duo Artslaves for an unrelenting follow up package and his second stellar release of 2019. Due for release on May 3 via Deeperfect Records, the two-track For Real Extended Player sees OXIA team up with the Moan Recordings label bosses across both original offerings, in what is a truly formidable debut collaboration between the three in-form producers. A brooding roller complete with mind-bending synths and warped vocal chops, the title track gets the EP off to a mesmerising start its layers and textures twisting and amalgamating in perfect symbiosis across the tracks six-minute duration. On the flip, Over places crisp drums and an undulating bassline front and centre, adding delayed spoken-word samples and a marathon second drop to close out the EP in emphatic fashion. The release comes just three days before OXIAs remix of John Digweed &amp; Nick Muirs iconic track Satellite, which is due for release on May 6 via Bedrock Records.
