Inspired by and a celebration of Nova Scotia, the small coastal province in Eastern Canada that he calls home, '44° North, 63° West' sees Dezza aka Derek Silvester at his musical best. Featuring singles 'Settle', 'Getaway' and 'Carry Me', this sophomore effort is a glorious collection of progressive house productions that puts Dezza at the forefront of the genre, cementing his name as one of its most important creators.

He builds here on the success of his debut artist album 'Cosmos', released in 2019 which featured standout tracks 'Cold Outside', 'Honey' and 'Expanse', and saw him tour the world from Australia to the Netherlands to the U.S. In sharp contrast, 2020, like it was for so many, was spent largely in isolation by Dezza, who turned to the beauty and nature of his surroundings in the Nova Scotia wilderness for inspiration and comfort. The result was nineteen tracks that look outward, with Dezza finding joy in his unique environment; this is reflected in the album's tracks that are tied together by a common theme of optimism and bliss through upbeat chord progressions, driving percussion and airy, floating synths. 

He recruits a host of impressive collaborators to breathe further life into his productions, including vocalists from around the world like Lauren L'aimant, EMME, Dan Soleil, HEBE, Lewyn, Møøne and Mike Schmid, who bring their own perspectives and stories to '44° North, 63° West' with their first-rate performances.

Moving across a dreamy soundscape, the title track flaunts the duo’s innate ability to produce timeless melodic house gems. Illuminating the airwaves with 'Keep On It’, glistening synths and intricate percussion are used to craft a mellow environment. Drawing the EP to a close with ‘Losing You Again’, Heard Right & Floa delicately build the instrumental arrangement, interlacing the soothing vocal with a deep bassline.

Colorize brings you some of the highlight productions to be found on Volume Three of the Colorscapes compilation which was helmed by PRAANA, Matt Fax and Dezza. Russian duo ANUQRAM's contribution is 'Overseas', a beautifully serene production that makes use of ebullient chord progressions and transcendent vocalisations. Ajenda's 'Take Me' sees his sharp breaks sound at its very best thanks to punchy percussion and blissful synths, and LAR brings his own breaks flavour to the fore on 'I Miss You', a spacey, expansive track that shines with effortless ease.

I was thrown into Burning Man in 2022 (woe is me!) which ignited a HUGE desire to create music. The song photo is of Parra for Cuva's set there, in front of an art installation that was set on fire. That was the night the passion was ignited to write music that calls us to reflect, release and connect.
So this song hopefully does the same, to ignite a spark in the pursuit of passions. And maybe that passion is just to enjoy music!

"Next Stop Future" is an electrifying EP that channels the energy of the 80s while embracing a sleek, modern production style. The two Analog Mixes dig even deeper into retro territory, using classic analog gear, vintage drum machines, and warm effects to create lush, immersive versions of the main track. Every element is designed to keep listeners moving, whether they're on the dancefloor or just vibing to the music.
