Following their label debut ‘Heights’, French production duo Weltmusik return to Purified Records with their majestic two-track ‘Lonely Roads’ EP. Opening with a touching vocal offering, the title track glides across a pristine arrangement with soaring synths, silky vocals and driving percussive elements. Flowing into ‘Crowded Skies’, Weltmusik devise a dreamy soundscape through lofty synths and intricate instrumentals, pushed along by deep rolling bass.

The ‘Lonely Roads’ EP artwork features an aerial image of a coral reef by Daniel Nicholson. Coral reefs, known as the rainforests of the sea, hold a wealth of biodiversity and provide shelter for countless marine species. These intricate structures, formed by the calcium carbonate skeletons of coral polyps, serve as vital breeding grounds and habitats for marine life. Their vibrant colors and unique shapes belie the delicate balance that exists between the coral organisms and the algae that call them home. As climate change drives coral bleaching events, organizations such as the Coral Reef Alliance work towards coral reef conservation and restoration. Acknowledging the significance of coral reefs as not only ecological treasures but also essential contributors to human livelihoods underscores the urgency of collective efforts to protect and preserve these underwater marvels. Organisations like the Coral Restoration Foundation focus on restoring and preserving coral reefs through active propagation and transplantation of corals, enhancing reef health. Floating across a cinematic soundscape, the title track features undulating patterns and soaring strings, completed by touching vocals and striking synths. Diving into ‘Dreamcatcher’, Alex devises a vast arrangement with gentle instrumentation, airy vocals and rhythmic percussion.The ‘Cold Strings’ artwork features a graceful image of a manta ray captured by Daniel Nicholson. Manta rays are among the largest species of rays, with wingspans reaching up to 29 feet (8.8 meters). These creatures are filter feeders, primarily consuming plankton and small fish by swimming with their mouths open, and are also known for their distinctive cephalic fins, which resemble horns and are used to funnel food into their mouths while swimming. Manta rays are found in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide, often congregating around cleaning stations where small fish remove parasites from their bodies. Despite their impressive size, manta rays are gentle giants and pose no significant threat to humans, with encounters often characterized by curiosity and awe. My Friend, aka James Levey and Archie Ward, are a British duo who’ve previously released on labels including Toolroom, Armada Electronic Elements and W&O Street. . In 2023, My Friend made waves with a series of successful releases on Anjunadeep, including the dynamic EP 'Holding Out’ and mesmerizing collaboration with Dosem titled 'Blue Marble / Door To Door’. Their latest offering, the ‘The Calm EP’, received acclaim from industry heavyweights Einmusik, Joris Voorn, and Gabriel & Dresden.
