Ok, there have been more versions and recordings of this song than I can remember. But this version—the in-your-face-metal-industrial version—is the most familiar to the majority of old-school CS fans and was released on the _v2.1.7_ EP of 1996, then re-mastered and re-released on MP3.com in 2000 just before the _Dueling Suzis_ release. It also got some radio play for a while on the East Coast in 1996. That was cool.

Old-OLD-school CS fans may remember a recording of Jezebel's Grave that was more punky, groovy and raw, distributed by a cassette tape demo (in 1994 I think). That one was probably my favorite versions--I'll have to see if I can dig that up somewhere...

Jezebel's Grave

Jezebel's Grave (1996)

A quick sketch, built off the Interpol-inspired main guitar riff. Using that old drum crappy Peavey drum kit I used to have (yes PEAVEY). Recorded on my R16 ZOOM, then transferred to Reason for some quick mix compression.

Road Raven (Sketch)

Here's a dark Black Angels-inspired riff with some eq processing on the snare to amp up the hard rock. Featuring my lovely Yamaha Live Custom kit, recorded onto my Zoom R16, then transferred to Cubase for quick and dirty mastering effects. As usual, all the bass and guitars are courtesy Line 6. For some reason, I totally love the drive in the middle of the song, before the break.

The Widower [v0]

Found this slow metal-y piece sitting around on the Zoom R16. Love the growling bass in here, wish I could remember the settings I used. This one's using mic'ed Line 6 gear, some really really raw scratch vocals, and that crappy old Peavey drum kit (but with a great Yamaha snare). I think the inspiration for this jam came from an old Philly band I used to like (but I can't remember their name right now). 

Torture Coast (Sketch)

I love songs that start out as smaller, tighter, and then evolve into something wider and bigger. This rough idea started off with the bass guitar riff around which I built up the ethereal guitars for that Kitchens-of-Distinction feel. There's also some rough vocal ideas sprinkled in there, mainly some backing harmonies and a bridge verse. 

This track uses the old Peavey kit (with the lovely Yamaha snare of course), and Line 6 bass, guitar, and effects. The bass and guitar were mic'ed through a Marshall amp on this one.

Eternity Bunny Test [0]

This jam idea started off with the wash of guitars (how I love dissonance!), which was joined by the off-kilter drum beat and finally the bass guitar to fill it out. I've got a neat vocal idea for this, but haven't had the chance to add it yet (partly because the verse part is in a minor key, while the bridge-y part is major, so the effect is a little off). My favourite part of this track is the guitar lead that starts around the 1:30 mark. Line 6 guitars and gear, and my Yamaha Live Custom kit is on this one.

Deleray A [1]

This jam was built around the guitar riff (obviously, it's so repetitive, ha). The full sound of the Yamaha Live Custom drum kit doesn't really come through because I'm playing with hot rods instead of normal sticks. The result is a lighter, more airy sound, but we lose some of those nice warm tones. I do love the bass on this one, it's got a very Curve-esque, fretless feel to it.

June Fly [0]

This track started out with some simple guitar jamming, but basically turned into a giant excuse for me to rock out on the drums. I'm playing my thunderous Yamaha Live Custom kit here, getting some decent sound out of it despite using the wussy hotrods instead of regular sticks. Features some pretty decent bass playing I guess, but I didn't know what I was doing and did everything in one take, so please forgive all the "mistakes" ;) I don't think there's a song here, but it sure was fun to play. 

Creator Rim [0]

Here's another version/variation of this song idea. It's not "better" from the other one, just "different". In addition to a bed of crunchy guitars to round out the bottom end, I'm using a different tuning and key. Plus I'm loving those delicious, beat-ier drums thanks to the use of real sticks. (Can you tell I love my kit ;)
