Waking Up in a Strange Place (Nora Wisp soundtrack)

This collection of songs were composed during the initial Guess Ready Review artist residency August 2013, on acoustic guitar and piano in what is known as Ober's House or Big House. The recording setup was basic and sacrificed sound quality for ambiance. These are first drafts, while some of these compositions were further refined and used in a soundtrack for the 2014 documentary Beyond The Divide. There is an immediacy and intimacy in these demo recordings that will always take me back to the way the light curled in between the tree branches and in through the windows into that big, musty room of old books, maps and pictures; the smell of dirt and tobacco and the echos of old stories and songs filling the room.

Intentions (w/ Kasper Lindmark)

Colours in Context is a lo-fi project created by Manchester, UK-based producer Miles Whittaker.

Inspired by the grand vistas of his local Northern English countryside, Miles sought to translate his experiences of ancient country roads, endless moorlands and sleepy Victorian era villages into music; the result being Colours in Context, an attempt to contextualise mood and emotion almost akin to the changing of seasons.

Miles released his first EP Alpenglow in early 2021 with label Dreamhop ☁️ Chill Lofi Beats, show casing a unique and laid back set of five tracks that served to establish the premise of the project. He has since released with labels such as Lofi Girl, Sleeptales, freshgoodies, Chill Beats 💙 groove, relax and Lofi jazz, releasing notable tracks such as Lunar, and Snow Day with good friend and long time collaborator Project AER.

To this day, Miles strives to continue to dedicate his efforts into experimenting with ways to push his music forward and keep innovating sonically, one soundscape at a time; he believes the best art is created when the artist is true to themselves and puts in their all.
