Twenty years ago I started recording songs using a cheap voice memo microphone that connected to a IBM computer via a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The software I used was the pre-installed program Sound Recorder. 
I’m not sure the songs have gotten much better but I have started using better tools. 
All percussions are Apple Drum Loops.
