Britney Spears x NIN - Toxic x All The Love In The World

The 13th release of katharsis is the EP “Econet” by the artist 3320eco. Diverging a bit from the usual mellow ambient sound direction of the katharsis discography, the Danish debuting artist 3320eco brings a more club-oriented style of experimental electronic music to the label on this release. Throughout the seven tracks, the artist explores an array of classic and modern dance music genres including everything from early trance to bailefunk, trap and jungle.

On “Econet”, 3320eco draws on aesthetics from the 90’s PlayStation console games of his childhood, with the sounds of futuristic machines from high budget sci-fi movies like Transformers and Pacific Rim as the main inspiration for the sound design. Throughout the EP, the listeners are transformed into Gundam-like creatures soaring through the sky on tracks like “INKJET”, or walking through the deserted streets of an uncanny metropolis after an all-encompassing cataclysm on the outro and title track “ECONET”.

The artist states following about the release: “This record is a melting pot containing the over-the-top sound design of modern movies, references to video games and the sounds of dance music. It’s a collage featuring the best parts of subjects I find interesting and fascinating. It’s also a net of references to media I’ve grown up with, an amalgamation of my favourite things and concepts, resulting in music with some kind of cohesive expression.”

With this found footage from the depths of the multi-verse, Paris based DJ franssouax (@franssouax) transports us to a realm where humanity's reign over the dancefloor has long gone. Artificial intelligence has taken control of the DJ-booth and is providing the club with a chaotic hybrid of its piercing yet eerily familiar sound, set to a vibrant new beat.

E B U (@e_b_u) is the solo music project of Bristol based artist Ella Paine. Her debut album 'Hinge' released on NoCorner in 2019 received critical acclaim; "A bold amalgam of avant-garde electronics, droning ambient and ultra-leftfield r'n'b" (Bleep). E B U's dynamic live show has also garnered high praise, "Disorientating, dissonant, but wonderfully compelling" as reported by Wire. With a strong repertoire of gigs under her belt, sharing the stage with the likes of Wolf Eyes, Moor Mother, Tami T, Oli XL and playing events such as BBC 6 Music Festival and London's Cafe Oto, her unique sound comfortably traverses genres and settings. E B U has hosted radio shows on Noods and 1020 with tracks being played out on NTS, Balamii and BBC 6 Music. A Boiler Room documentary called 'Keep Bristol Weird' focussed on key acts defining Bristol's current music scene, which featured E B U alongside Hodge, Giant Swan, Young Echo and many more. With other releases on Howling Owl and a recent collaboration with Mun Sing on Illegal Data, Paine is currently writing new material, which sees her music incorporate a more software driven contemporary club sound.
