New techno record label by legendary ladies Gayle San and Paula Cazenave 
COMBINE AUDIO: WHERE OLD SCHOOL AND NEW SCHOOL MEET!
 
Barcelona, June 7th 2017 - Talent, experience and a common love for four-deck performances. These magic traits inspired two great ladies of techno, Paula Cazenave and Gayle San, to join forces and start a new record label. Combine Audio is born.
 
Because of their shared passion for techno and impeccable careers as DJs and producers, Paula and Gayle are a match made in heaven. Every time these grand ladies of techno shared the stage over the years, they experienced a huge chemistry and a common drive to do more with techno. The result is the Frankfurt/Barcelona-based record label Combine Audio, ambitiously aiming to surprise techno lovers with twelve digital releases every year, starting July 2017.
 
Old school meets new school: Music that will be released on Combine Audio explores the tension between techno of 'now' and 'then'. This turns out to be the spawning ground for a kind of techno that evokes the grooves and sounds of twenty years ago with the crisp quality of today's recording process. On top of that, there's the plethora of new effects and digital plugins of today's music production world. With all this in mind, Combine Audio literally 'combines' the old school techno and the more actual techno sound, merging them into an amalgamation of a hybrid style. This results in techno tracks that remind of techno from the 80s to early 2000's - a sound that's calling the attention of old school DJs that are still playing nowadays - yet with a fresh vibe.
 
Paula Cazenave and Gayle San Combine Audio co-founders: Paula Cazenave and Gayle San are true techno veterans who have been around the block. Spanish Paula is and always will be techno. She started DJing in 1996 and produces tracks since 2005. She has been rocking clubs and festivals all over Europe for a long time and she reached some top spots like Awakenings and Dreambeach. Singaporean Gayle also kicked off her DJ-career in the nineties and her reputation includes her impeccable three-deck mixing skills that lead her to play in the world's most renowned clubs, e.g. Final Frontier (London), the legendary Omen Club in Frankfurt (the so-called 'Mecca of Techno'), the Lehmann Club (Stuttgart) as well as on the renowned techno festivals Nature One and Awakenings....

BARCELONA-. Acclaimed techno DJ and producer Ben Sims joins Combine Audio with a pair of remixes for the label's head honcho, Paula Cazenave.

After 'Wildlife EP', the latest appearance on her own record label, Paula Cazenave produces two new cuts: a stripped version of her famous 'Picky Pigeons' plus an entirely new track dubbed 'Crazy Trip'.

With utmost prestige, UK techno legend Ben Sims joins Combine Audio supplying reworks for each of Paula's tracks, bringing the release to full circle. 

'Crazy Trip' a track reminiscent of the early 2000's rave scene. The heavy low end is driven by a distorted bass-drum that pounds the path to abrasive pad action and filtered atonal synth leads. The beat transports the dance-floor into an unexpected breakdown, featuring an old-school breakbeat that ensures maximum dance-floor expectation. The loop serves as a grounding element for an ever-evolving trippy lead synth, coupled with spacey atmospheric elements especially thought out for the big floors. The thick textures achieved by the producer impregnates the track with Paula Cazenave's distinctive sound imprint.

In 'Picky Pigeons Tool Edit', Paula furthers the essence of the original mix previously released in 'Wildlife EP' (Combine 03) , stripping it down to the essentials, and intensifying the drive into an advanced, hypnotic techno stomper. 

The re-interpretation executed by Sims on 'Picky Pigeons' features heavy bass-drum action coupled with infinitely intricate percussion parts, intertwined with sharp and thick hi-hats. The masterful combination of elements achieves an immense drive by the techno genius on this remix.

Ben Sims attaches more dirt to the 'Crazy Trip' remix, expanding the hypnotic bass sequence with a staccato of heavy flanged percussion, transforming the original into a genuine, low-ceiling, tight-packed room banger. 

About the artists:

Ben Sims needs no introduction, he is one of techno's most exciting talents - a DJ who has stayed true to the genre's funk,groove and electronic fused origins whilst continuing to embrace and nurture its development over the past 25 odd years. Schooled on a diet of Hip Hop, Reggae, Soul, House and Rave in the 80's, he played a huge part in defining British dance music in the 90s and continues to be an ardent champion of new music,producers and DJs via his many nights,recordlabels,radioshows, podcasts and relentless touring endeavours. He has put his name to more than 50 releases in the last two decades. During those years, there has also been a steady stream of high profile remixes. He is a legend and we are very honoured to have his work released on Combine audio.

Paula Cazenave has been producing techno for over 12 years, her name appears on labels like Beat Disaster, Patterns, Basics, Special Series, Audio Family, Ak-Recordings, Amigos, Wild, Different Is Different Records and more. She started her career in 1996 and has played in the most important venues and festivals of Spain, Europe and South America. To name a few : Awakenings, Aquasella, Dreambeach, F135, Fabrik, Metropolis... Her constant work over the years gave her a deserved reward consecrating her as a reference of Techno today....

"The Feather EP" is Pushmann's debut on Combine Audio and comes bundled with remixes by techno heavy-weights DJ Rush, Ken Ishii and label boss Paula Cazenave.

Pushmann delivers two original techno tracks, "The Feather" and "The Liquid". A Detroit character among a clear and strong influence of European, Berlin and Birmingham style. His imaginary sound springs from the fast-paced, industrial and mechanical high-octane techno. 

Legendary producers DJ Rush and Ken Ishii provide a pair of remixes along with another reinterpretation by label-boss Paula Cazenave.

DJ Rush's drenched his remix of "The Liquid" with bottom-heavy kickdrums and offbeat percussion while blending dirty atmospherics and subtle hypnotic synth sequences into a fantastic DJ tool.

The profoundly dynamic reinterpretation of "The Liquid" by Ken Ishii features his trademark techno style: a massive drum section, brilliant arrangement and unique sound design.

To wrap up the release, label-boss Paula Cazenave steps in with her trademark techno style: tight and heavy low-end, intricate percussive patterns, spacey pads and a synth patterns designed for a maximum narcotic effect....
