We all make graphs at some point...maybe TOO often...in our work. Whenever you create and animate something, having as much flexibility as possible is smart. Using sliders, we can quickly rig graphs that can easily be adjusted and animated on the fly.


This is just the tip of the iceberg. This is the bottom line: When you have a way to group any number or shapes, properties, and paths together and put into a slider or joystick control, possibilities are endless.


Joystick controllers are commonly used in 3D character rigging for facial animation. With this tool, you simply set five consecutive keyframes to represent your origin, right, left, top, and bottom extremes. With those layers selected, you can instantly create a joystick controller on the stage that will interpolate between those extremes appropriately.


Sliders are similar in setup to Joysticks. While sliders may feel more technical than joysticks for controlling your animation, they can be much more powerful. Unlike joysticks, there is no limit to how many poses you can create with your layers. Additionally, you can mix them together in any way you wish. This is great for rigging hands, eyes, mouths, or even a set of poses for the entire body of a character. It can even be used for motion graphics and abstract animation.





I managed to find another windows computer (forgot about it initially) and the joystick had the same problem, so probably not a registry error. On both computers, the windows game controller utility showed there no movement on the slider axis but everything else works on the joystick.


I'm working on a multi-joystick setup where I need to build custom button mappings. And even map across devices. For example, if there is a separate joystick and throttle quadrant I need to map 'Z' or whatever, over to the throttle input. I also need to be able to check and see if there is a slider(s) available on each stick as I build the mapping profiles, etc. I cannot figure out how to just say something like:if (joystick.HasSliders)


However, if the joystick does not have sliders, this of course will throw an exception. If it only has a single slider, I will always get back an Int array of Sliders[] with two values, no matter if the stick only has a single slider or not. So it is not a guaranteed way to know if sliders exist, or even how many exist. If there is no second actual slider, the value Sliders[1] is always 0, but if there is a second slider it could still be in the 0 position.


In the video, I just tried to create a joystick with some easy eyes moving around. When I go to create the joystick, I always get the error " no properties in you selected layers are ready to be connected to a joystick".


As the topic states I just bought the MiG 15 and unlike every other aircraft I own I can't get the slider on my joystick to control the throttle. In the controls section there is "Thrust" which is controlled by page down/up, and when i hit Axis or whatever, there is a Throttle section and Joy_slider is assigned to it, but I'll be damned if it does anything.


I slide the joystick slider up and down and nothing but the second i hit page down the throttle responds. How can I get the joystick slider to control the throttle? I mean i use a joystick for a reason and having to use page down/up while dogfighting is really annoying.
