Swiss producer Robin Félix (@felixfelixrobin) steps up to deliver the 377th edition of the IA MIX Series, interweaving a multi-rhythmic mix of textural ambient, breakbeat, IDM and experimental electronica.

Based out of the Swiss town of Biel/Bienne, Robin Félix is a self described audio naturalist, employing found sounds as the basis of his productions upon which he implies a strict rule to use at least 80% of field recording in his music. He then twists, skewers and manipulates these sounds to create the most mesmerising of sculptural sound-fields incorporating swirling radial ambiance and intricate drum work.

Mastered by Italian producer Neel, 'Senselessness 1/2' EP is a beautifully crafted vinyl, presented in gold Risograph artwork designed by Lisa Vatan - inspired by the ancient Japanese paper marbling technique of Suminagashi. With such a bold debut effort, we just had to find out more about the makings of it.

In our interview, Robin sheds light on his musical background and penchant for field recordings as well as his minimalist production technique. We also find out more about his partner's process behind the artwork and what they have planned in the near future for their freshly established record label De l'aube.

"Arriving into Temple, already dipped into the most sacred silence and the most daring sounds, not seeing but feeling the familiar faces and expert listeners was somehow intimidating, but also encouraging and exciting. I had prepared a hybrid live set, djing several recordings and reviewed old tracks i compiled through the year, on preparation of another live set for Mostra, and a sp404+FX full of sounds, sampled movies, sequences and patterns to fill the gaps and refill the most dance-oriented moments of the set so there could be a little more entropy and fun.

The idea was the "interruptus' vibe where full dances would be difficult but the movement and weird hand twists would arrive through extra filterings, complex pseudo beats and dub passages of the set.

The sound and gear at Espacio Perpendicular are also intimidating for those of us not used to such definition, so the experience was even more brilliant. Doing lo-fi processes into a hi-fi system is such bless.

After years of playing records, encountering an artist who inspires you with their unique approach is truly a mind-blower. Enter Big Hands, who graced our February session in the box, saving the day (🙏) when my USB failed (thankfully, I had my records handy). His ingenious use of vinyl, playing some tracks 45s at 33 RPM, breathed new life into the airwaves, leaving a lasting impression on me as I revisit my record collection. Co-founder of @BaroqueSunburst alongside @SoreabUK, Big Hands is also the mastermind behind Ottomani Parker, a delightful addition to our last year event lineup. Operating within the lively beats of London's music scene, our protagonist finds their creative home at Honest Jon's Records shop. Dive into his session now, and experience the magic for yourself.

First instalment of Sonic Spells sees the curator himself, Entire, present his first mix since a very long time. Contains carefully selected pieces that deeply resonate with his soul. Music from Undveld, Skee Mask, Ekin Fil, ENA, Felix Krone, Cloistral, Forest On Stasys, RVSHES, The Vision Reels, DB1, Fresnel Lens, Yosuke Tokunaga, Monic and a fair share of his own (unreleased & released) music.

This is an extended and modified version of his live set "Contemplations On Love" performed on 14.02.2024 at Love Your Soma event held in Transformator, Wrocław.
