Banoffee Pies Records, in its eighth year of operating, hit the 20th release milestone in their Original Series. Joining the roster, Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam steps up with a 4 track solo EP entitled “Fasla”. A decisive selection of attitude packed wormhole bass lines and dark basement jams.

The A side was produced in a special collaboration with local artist SHBL-LBSH who’s vocal works feature across “Kesibt” + “Fasla”. The B side delivers sharp cutting synth lines in “Mawkif” and breakneck low end rumbles in “Hanshoof”. After a series of works on the likes of Naive, Not For Profit and Rhythm Section, Hassan fittingly joins the Berlin based, Bristol born label with more boundless sounds that slice through the fabric of styles that BPR have fostered since inception. Brace for the fourth installment of the wonderful Cómeme Mucho series. None other than the incredible Diego Morales, aka Diegors, leads the way with his “Terapia House.” Diegors was one of the first artists to release on Cómeme, back in 2009, with his seminal “Osea … Hello” on Cómeme 002. He is very much responsible for the creation of the sound of Cómeme, which later would have a huge influence on Latin American dance music and the rest of the planet.

One cannot understate his breathtaking DJ skills which have made him a classic of Santiago de Chile’s nightlife - a true DJ who knows how to magically open a party, destroy the dance floor on primetime, and move the crowd to joyful tears in unforgettable moments when closing a night. His track manifests his unique style, raw dirtiness, slamming grooves, House vibe, and Champeta rhythms he created when others long before the hype machines of the mainstream turned an eye onto Latin America. Diegors is the original to the copies we can hear today!

So who could be a better fit than the Chilean new school’s Syntrovert for the remix? We can’t think of anyone! Hailing from the city of Valparaíso, they stand for a new approach to what was starting to emerge about 15 years ago. Their version is faster, yet as groove-driven, with pumping and thrashing percussion, giving the original a twist towards other outer worldly moments of dance floor experience, a heavy for late night frenzy or daytime soundsystem block party craze. Syntrovert has established their name as one of the essential figures of the Chilean underground today - alongside the wonderful Paltamango they release countless tracks under mysterious monikers and collaborate alongside our beloved DJ Maxicat on one of the most essential Chilean underground raves of today: Quimera.

-       “The Visitor” is very much a collaborative project featuring Juliana Gattas (Miranda!) and  Aérea Negrot (Hercules & Love Affair), Daniel Maloso, Jorge González (Los Prisioneros), Philipp Gorbachev, Daniel Maloso and many others. The album was co-produced and mixed by Deadbeat.

This year, the Cómeme label brings you its third, solo artist album - Matias Aguayo ‘The Visitor’.
 
His early music production days started as half of the legendary techno duo, Closer Musik, then two stellar albums, as Matias Aguayo, for Kompakt records: 2005’s ‘Are You Really Lost’ and then 2009’s stunning ‘Ay Ay Ay’. Aguayo is one of the most open-minded and versatile artists working in electronic music today. A big part of this comes from the Chilean/German, Aguayo, continually proving his ability to adapt to the creative frequencies of others; in 2011 he performed vocals with math-rock trio Battles for their hit ‘Ice Cream“ and in 2012 sung on "Tonto“ by Baio (of Vampire Weekend).
 
‘The Visitor’ was recorded over a period of 5 years in various places around the world: Buenos Aires, Ciudad de México, Vitry-Sur-Seine, Rionegro (Antioquia, Colombia), Sternhagen Gut (Germany) and his Berlin studio, The District Union.
 
As with his previous albums, Aguayo unveils the unexpected rather than appeasing fans of the genre specific. For this album, he considers his roots in proto-house, new wave, techno and other indigenous body music styles that he has discovered throughout his travels. These primal elements make up the core of the album; the music is harder, provocative more up-tempo and psychedelic than it’s been before. ‘The Visitor’ is his most direct album release to date.
 
Artists who have recorded for the label have had some level of creative input on ‘The Visitor’. Cómeme has a loyal lineage, Philipp Gorbachev, Ana Helder, Daniel Maloso, Alejandro Paz – all Cómeme artists – have contributed. Collaboration is the essence of this album and a pool of shared creativity is a vital part of the label’s creed. "The Visitor" also features a multitude of differing artistic voices like Juliana Gattas (Miranda!), Aérea Negrot, Liset Alea and Jorge González (Los Prisioneros). Aguayo spent the month of January 2013 near Medellín, Colombia recording with friends and Cómeme artists, Sano and Gladkazuka. Percussionist, Luis Miguel ‘Cucharita’ Jaramillo, adds a warmth and humanity to the essence of some of the final recordings. The album was mixed by Scott Monteith aka Deadbeat.

‘The Visitor’ opens with ‘RRRRR’, detonating like a technicolour rocket; bass licks collide with the frenzied, intertwining vocals of Argentinian Juliana Gattas and Venezuelan singer Aérea Negrot. Matias Aguayo co-wrote this with Chilean vocalist Jorge González (of legendary 1980’s Chilean new wave group Los Prisioneros) who also contributed on‘Las Cruces’ and ‘Una Fiesta Diferente’.
