Red Axes affiliate Moscoman impressed with his first outing on I'm A Cliche, 2013's self-titled debut EP. It set out his stall as a producer to watch: a creator of humid, exotic electronic music dripping with vintage new wave, EBM and Italo-disco influences. This follow-up continues in a similar vein. There's a notably murky feel to the bubbling but strangely foreboding "Dark Horse" and weirdly sensual "Rerotica", but it's the more live-sounding "Ego Trippin" - all Hammer horror organs, punk-funk bass, backwards vocal samples and Turkish melodies - that hits home hardest. Optimo Music's The Twins provides a magical remix, layering their ghostly vocals over a hypnotic bed of drum machine hits and woozy synthesizer riffs.

John Talabot and Axel Boman teamed up in 2017 for their R&S debut ’The Night Land’ where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams.  

The two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as Pitchfork expressed in their glowing review “Their collective output doesn’t sound much like either’s work; it doesn’t even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. Instead, they’ve hit upon something new.”

This new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of Mojo, Phonica, XLR8R, Self Titled and DJ Mag all including it their annual best of lists.

The artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the Talaboman sound.  
Superpitcher, Samo DJ, Luke Slater under his L.B. Dub Corp alias and Powder have all seriously delivered the goods.

Mexican producer Alex Aguayo comes to Spanish label Golden Soul with an EP that packs two tracks in a total of five mixes. In its original form, 'Time Travel' itself is a hazy, pulsing affair that blends influences from nu-disco and progressive house and simply oozes sunshine, while Cosmic Sumo boss Andrea Rucci turns in an even more euphoric remix. 'Wake', meanwhile, is an energetic, Italo-inspired, trance-tinged cut that's available in techy, throbbing Original, hi-octane Alberto Melloni Remix or slowed-down 'n' sleazed-out JB Dizzy Remix flavours, with the latter rub the EP standout for this reviewer.
