You're boarding the plane. You're buckling up. You take off. The flight staff demonstrate emergency procedures. You ask for a martini. You fly across the country. You glance at a newspaper and finger your eyemask thinking maybe a little rest won't hurt. A few hours later you land. You see a man in shades with a sign that has your name on it, typed, in boldface. You go to him and he shows you into a limo. You get in and he takes you to the hotel which will be hosting the convention you will be attending in 2 days. You check your pager. You remove your sunglasses. The receptionist says 'Hello! How can I help make your day better?' You check yourself in. You sigh and collapse into your chair. You loosen your tie. You check the minibar. You check your phone. You receive a memo from your colleague, Chuck: 'Meet me in the function room. -JEFF.' You change into a different suit and put on a blue jacket. You make your way through the hallway which is lined with fake palm trees in fake dirt and leads back into the main reception parlor. There is a crystal chandelier and there is a maid in a red outfit vaccuuming. You wave at your colleague across the way and when you get closer, you shake hands. 'Glad you could make it,' he says.
