Giesse and Big Hands present a live recording of their B2B from the festival CULTO - a Turin-based multidisciplinary event exploring contemporary electronic music, which took place in September 2023.

Thanks to his meticulous and transversal approach, Giesse's sets are linear and well-defined paths: an eclectic exploration that knows no boundaries, which alternates the concise charm of musical minimalism with the percussive and tireless dynamics typical of distant tribal practices; a precise identity imprint, a monolithic style that is difficult to emulate and that leaves no doubts. Bad Tips continues its streak of innovation with RAVL's "Archives EP". Oscillating between Lyon and Marseille, RAVL showcases a break and melancholic universe that skillfully blends analog warmth, icy percussions, and a meticulous sound design.

The EP opens with the dreamlike techno-break journey of "Archives" seamlessly transitioning between bittersweet melancholy and convulsive rhythms. "Doomsday Clockmakers" takes the listener deeper into emotional terrain, punctuated by a nihilistic voice and a nebula of beastly percussion.

Remixes by Hyas, Lisa More, and Pura Pura offer diverse perspectives, each adding a unique layer to the sonic tapestry. Introduce yourself?

Hi there ~ I’m Jesse. I live in LA, run a label called Motion Ward, walk dogs, love food, make music with my friend John, DJ from time to time, and love my friends and family. Music is a way of developing emotional closeness with people for me :) 

Where did this gig take place?

This gig took place in Turin, which is in northern Italy right next to the Alps. The venue was a DIY space run by Misto Mame Collective and affiliates. About 9 people pay for the space to be able to operate monthly, and the feeling of community there is really strong and sweet. It was a highlight for me on this recent tour I did. Also really loved the people ❤️

What did you drink as you played?

I had one beer and water lol, and at the very end someone brought me a glass of red wine :) Was trying to minimize the amount I was drinking so I didn’t have to go pee, but eventually I had to loop a track and bolt to the bathroom :X (can you spot the moment?) 

Favorite moment in the mix?

Probably when it starts to escalate after the first few tracks ~ it reminds me of when the energy that night palpably shifted and felt like the dance floor was turning into an amoeba 🦠
