After their acclaimed apparitions on OOH-sounds, Santé Records and Zoe Mcpherson’s SFX, Glass ( @glassglassmusic ) come back on Comic Sans for their longest work to date.

Anxiety Prime is the result of a collaboration between Glass and Comic Sans’s headquarters. Through the whole record, the experimental writing of the duo bends club culture references into a playful and hybrid sound experience. To achieve this result, the Caen based producers use every tools at their disposal from cutting-edge techniques like max/msp programming, machine learning to random internet sound sampling, voice experimentation and field recordings to name a few.

The duo’s work can be seen as a contemporary sound collage, where hundreds of heavy processed sonic fragments are carefully arranged into a multi-layered composition. Anxiety Prime is a physical exploration of socio-political violence and the ambiguous nature of our fragmented personality in our modern society.

Glass asked to their favorite artists of the experimental electronic scene to deconstruct and destroy their album ‘Anxiety Prime’.

This various, built around classic and recognizable Glass fragments, redefines the album in a totally new way and gives it a fresh ambient and club touch.
This is the soundtrack to another stressful & violent world.

For this second release Soleil Rouge focuses its attention on Jonnnah, one of the key artists since the creation of the project. After a versatile first release on Worst, the artist continues his creative process in the same line.

The sequence of atmospheres and landscapes on this album was conceived as a journey into the psyche, more specifically as an analysis of the depressive state and the healing process. Jonnnah recreates familiar feelings and memories and writes an abstract story to allow the listener to interpret.

"Terra Incognita" introduces us through a phase of doubt and leads to a loss of orientation, then the feeling of anxiety is explored before arriving at "Sounds of Silence" where energies are transformed, the following landscapes allow a slow reconstruction to close this metaphorical journey
with "Enter Paradise". “Poppy's Star” was co-produced with French artist Tryphème, whose work was a source of inspiration in the creation of Jonnnah's universe.

The fusion of their sound results in a sentimental 80’s pop atmosphere, that is characterized by heavenly sounding delay processing as well
as the melancholic voice of Trypheme. Throughout the quarantine, the artist and his father (also a musician) set up a daily artistic ritual in order to use this interlude to promote their common artistic creation, from this sharing was born the track “Young Man, Old Boy”.

This album takes us through interludes of gritty noise, melancholic pop, avant-garde experimental music and powerful bass music. The artist treats each of these sounds with the same ethereal and melancholic layer creating a link between the atmospheres of his narrative.

This album marks the birth of the Jonnnah artistic entity, right down to the creation of a physical appearance conceived in collaboration with designer William Mora. The two artists worked together to create a series of masks that draw on intimate visuals from the history and culture of
Jonnnah.

The various masks were conceived as ritualistic costumes for the upcoming performances, participating in the creation of an alter ego between mysticism and chivalry.

Bringing us to our twentieth release we have an NHS newcomer with their first ever EP, named Yotah, Offering up four tracks that teeter on the fringes of chunky maximalism and intricate, evolving modulation. ‘Rewiring’ is an exploration of hybridized and amorphous sonics into recognizable patterns, only to break through this consolidation (so evidently true to our nature) to peer into the unknown that lurks on the other side.

Such a notion is further established through the creative process that Yves pursued to develop his first body of work; learning and unlearning various styles of music to be left with a semblance of what was. His sound, not yet fully established as he humbly states, is always a vestige of the past, whispers of a previous set of patterns he has reinterpreted and rewired in his own mind.

Yotah - Landing Sequence

The latest volley from @high_digital's inner sanctum comes courtesy of Egyptian producer @assyouti. 

Drawing upon Cairo’s feverish energy, ‘Shakhrama’ is a violent distillation of rhythmic ingenuity and squashed, caustic bass. It’s overdriven and precision-tooled; each track a stampeding onslaught more devastating than the last.

Presenting the title track, today’s premiere evokes his hometown’s noise polluted landscape with some rapid-fire rudeness. A deadly fusion of mutant bass ballistics and hi-NRG club deconstruction.

Welcoming another addition to the ever-growing NHS roster, we introduce the sounds of Matteo Coffetti with an erratic audio collage of sonic madness that toys with the fringes of Latin rhythm patterns and proto-fairy-tale sound palettes into a coagulation of ultra-syncopated bass music.

'Delphinine Capriole' takes form as a significant progression from much of Matteo's previous works through the increased broken sense of flow that can be found on this NHS debut. A seriously vast and intricate universe of sonic motifs and quarks can be found across each track, keeping each piece tightly woven into the last. A garbled sense of playfulness is offset by the fever dream presence that the release conveys so terrifyingly well. Matteo's sound feels like a deconstructed version of a previously existing genre of music from a distant world.

UK producer Renslink calls IM103 his first effort focused on the dancefloor, but it belies a lifetime steeped in it. This is prime material for the most advanced of DJs.

The first cut, Static, blends heavy, droning atmospheric sound design with the half-time template of dubstep, complete with jungle vocals. Before reaching the first half, however, it goes into a healthy techno gallop, making the track a perfect set opener if drama is your thing.

From that we go into the three-on-two mindbend of In My Mind, full of beautiful rhythmic trickery and rave culture nods in the sampled female vocals.

Cenotaph feels like a Pinch & Mumdance dub that they kept for themselves around the Control/Strobelight era, all rolling, persistent kick, dubbed-out dready vocals and dystopian hoover.

In Touching The Void we find a moment of drama and relative tenderness, as cinematic strings and choir soar over a busy rolling breakbeat. Occasionally, the proceedings are punctuated by a reese bass and bleeps fill that keep it fresh (an you on your toes).

Closer Silence is a mutant dembow wobbler with alien vocals by Nivalis, like dancehall for after the nuclear apocalypse, when we’ll have all the extra limbs we’ll need to dance to music like this.
