Glass Stained Eyes is the second single from indie-rock/shoegaze trio Coming Up Roses sophomore EP. A song about viewing the world through a distorted lens, the song’s sad but hopeful lyrics are juxtaposed by breezy synth melodies and jangly guitars, as frontwoman Emily Sera laments ‘I wish my world was really green’. Produced by Singapore indie music stalwart Leonard Soosay, Glass Stained Eyes is one of the band’s most accessible songs to date - its raw and honest lyrics resonating with indie and pop fans alike.

I’m inspired by a lot of lofi/slacker type music along with Talking Heads and hip-hop and I guess that comes out here. The song is built around a lofi groove with a hint of G-funk in its DNA, along with perhaps the laziest guitar solo in rock and roll history. 

This track is a fruition of the last few moon’s labour of love. One means of expression I’ve sporadically been pruning and pondering and pruning and pouring a lot of love and frustration into. So, please, soak up the grooves and I hope you enjoy.

Day 29. This one was inspired by memories of reading Calvin and Hobbes in the morning while eating breakfast. The photo is of the kitchen window in my old home.

Today I used only acoustic guitar with no effects except some volume related ones and some EQ. Also played in 5/4 time.

In January 2024, Falling Out Of Love featured on Jess Iszatt’s BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio 1, a huge moment for an independent band that prides itself on self producing and releasing their own music. 

‘Only You’ will be released on 15th March 2024 and is our third single from the upcoming ‘Life in Black and White EP. Featuring distorted guitars and bright synths, the song speaks about the initial stages of a relationship where nothing else matters and you feel more alive than you ever have before. We wrote, recorded and produced the song in our bedrooms (something we’re massively proud of!) We always write music based on experiences that we have lived and we want the listener to feel that! Hailing from the island nation of Singapore, London-based alternative rock band Coming Up Roses forge a sound that is distinctively familiar - yet you can’t quite put your finger on.

Having relocated from Singapore to the UK in late 2022, their move is footnoted by the release of new single “Utopia Reimagined: These Corners”. Produced by Joshua Rumble (Florence Welch, Black Country New Road) and mixed by Caesar Edmunds (Foals, Beach House), the sprawling track showcases a band in its ascendancy.

Led by singer-bassist Emily Sera, the group has emerged as one of the most promising acts out of Southeast Asia owing to their dynamic live shows and heartfelt lyrical themes. In addition to tours in Taiwan and Indonesia, the band have played festivals such as Canadian Music Week, Fred Perry Subculture and The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions. To date, the band has released 2 EPs, debut effort Waters (2018) and sophomore EP Everything Is (2022).

Despite the bittersweet nature of leaving their lives behind in Singapore, Coming Up Roses are ready to embark on their new adventure.
