Conrad’s mix starts with an irie infused, ragga, roller, then bounces into a heavy, amen, damager. Rollers become the dominant force, upfront, heavy, rattlers, snuggly fit from tune to tune! A Tink Tonk, halftime tune offers a mad switch before giving way to some amen bizzness, wicked rollers, and old school smashers, don’t believe me, check the track list! London certainly doesn’t need any long winded introduction as to its importance in the drum and bass scene and it’s no surprise that Kastro and Scudd chose to use inspiration from our legendary city for their first EP for Serial Killaz.

The title track ‘LDN TING’ reeks of intensity. If you were lucky enough to visit The End, imagine this going off at 2am next to a gang of gas and lighter equipped corner creepers. Its indestructible bassline riffs coincide perfectly with tough breaks, rolling percussion and a sneaky one liner vocal.

‘Ease Out’ takes a familiar and well loved stance, easily fitting into the Serial Killaz back catalogue. It’s flipped out, relaxed vibes of the intro combine perfectly with the rubberband style bass that certainly takes inspiration from vibes of an era gone by.

If there ever was a reason to kick back and skank out then the half step vibes of ‘Something About You’ is probably your one stop shop of 2019 and beyond. Showing their versatility in numbers here, Kastro and Scudd fire out a right old grumpy bastard of a tune with muddy beats, bass and a cheeky little arpeggiated riff.

Kastro and Scudd split into two for ‘Who We Are’ and ‘Forever’ respectfully. The first being a vocal led box of tricks, initial assumptions bring forth a commercial dancefloor track but that’s certainly far from the truth after the breakdown. Scudd takes the end of the EP and what a way to finish. ‘Forever’ jumps on the vibe of recent months with a bouncy house organ riff and skippy breakbeats.

A clever, well respected package that’s a fine tribute to the many genres, styles and flavours of our capital city. No ramping. Newcastle crew representing hard.

Soul Deep & Smooth N Groove are honored to share the mixes from the big fundraiser event on March 28-29th. It was a truly incredible day of immensely talented deejays and producers mixing tunes to perfection, all in the name of charity. The money raised from the event was given to deejays who rely on gigging to make a living. Due to the cancellation of all their gigs, their financial situations were made extremely difficult. We saw an opportunity to help bring the D&B community together to help support their beloved producers, and they showed up in a BIG way!

The next two featured mixes are by Soul Deep’s own, Scott Allen, and the young Liquid producing phenom, Leniz. These two veteran deejays have provided some serious vibes for your isolation enjoyment. We’d like to send a special thanks out to all the deejays who participated in the event by sending in your superb mixes. We’d also like to thank all of the all the amazing fans who donated their hard earned money to the cause. You guys really showed how much you love and appreciate the deejays that you follow. For that, we are very grateful. We’d also like to thank the chat room crew, many of which were in the chat room for the whole 2 day, 23 hour marathon of music. You guys share our passion for the music we love, and you made the event a very memorable one.

The event left such a lasting impression on us, and our listeners, that we’ve decided to do another Future Sounds Ratio – Artist Fundraiser in the very near future. Let's be honest. How many seven year old junglists do you know of? Well, the boy who would become Command Strange was just such a child. Growing up in Kazakhstan, the lure of his older brother's jungle and drum 'n' bass proved irresistible, and exposure to the music of icons like Roni Size, Aphrodite, and LTJ Bukem laid the foundations for what was to follow.

By the age of sixteen Command Strange was already releasing music. With a focus on the melodic side of DnB, he quickly got the attention of the scene's elite. The likes of Bryan Gee, Jumpin Jack Frost, Goldie, Hype, Bukem, Fabio & Grooverider regularly supported his productions, and with airplay on prestigious stations like BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, his reputation as one to watch was secured.

And he hasn't slowed down since.

Releases on Fokuz, Metalheadz, Good Looking, Integral, Grid, Horizons, Hospital and Med School have proven his versatility, with the Command Strange sound evolving to encompass harder, nastier styles alongside his pristine musicality. In a scene where releasing one artist album is a major achievement, Command Strange's back cat already includes three of them, “Soul Booster” and “Episode 91” on Fokuz, and “Joy”, his team-up with Intelligent Manners, on Marky's Innerground imprint.

Now exclusively signed to the V Recordings family, and with a reputation as a deejay that's seen him hype crowds across Europe and beyond, Command Strange has racked up achievements that are distant dreams for many artists twice his age. Even so, as he continues to develop, collaborate, and innovate, there's no doubt there are many more incredible things to come for Command Strange. Watch carefully.
