Inside the radiology room, his claustrophobia intensifies until James, the calm and steady technician, begins speaking to him through the headset. James’s voice should be soothing and grounded, offering a temporary emotional anchor for Chance. As power irregularities begin to affect the hospital, subtle shifts in tone and pacing should reintroduce tension, signaling that something unsettling is unfolding.

For my narration of The Witching Hand by Randall Weber, I approached the story with a cinematic, dark fantasy tone—something that captures the mood of The Witcher or Game of Thrones. I focused on emphasizing the contrast between the mystical tension of the witches and the structured, political formality of Solem. For characters, I gave Mere Bertrand a sharp, commanding delivery—serpentine and unyielding. Cecile came across with a softer, uncertain tone, reflecting her inner hesitation, while Maxine was more confident but carried a guarded edge with subtle sarcasm. I portrayed Prince Phillipe as introspective and emotionally layered, with moments of quiet doubt and flashes of conviction. Thena was performed with a bold and witty energy, but I also made sure to show her emotional depth during vulnerable moments. King Ben Lahvan had a firm, emotionally reserved tone—very controlled—while Dom Gray was calm, methodical, and carried a steady intensity. I leaned into the emotional weight of grief, strained family dynamics, and the theme of responsibility, allowing room for silence and breath to carry some of that weight. To enhance the experience, I also incorporated sound effects and music—bubbling cauldrons, magical ambiance, castle echoes, and dramatic underscoring—to elevate the atmosphere without overpowering the narration.

I began with a grounded, conversational tone for this narration to reflect Samuel’s early detachment and dark curiosity. As the story descended into psychological horror, I gradually shifted the vocal tone, building tension and dread while maintaining emotional authenticity. Samuel’s journey from sarcastic thrill-seeker to haunted survivor required a subtle but clear emotional arc.

The former friends were voiced with an unsettling charm that turned menacing, while the mysterious companion carried an eerie calm. I focused on pacing and tone control to balance immersive horror with a deeply human narrative.
