95 Open Tabs first release is here! Humbling to have Auga Lustral by Andrae Durden for the first reference.

Andrea is a producer, a singer, a DJ, and a sound teacher, so her commitment to music is defi something you can tell. She's been working on all kinds of UK sounds for a while now and her maestry with sound design, basslines and breaks is perfectly reflected in this EP.

🌀Auga Lustral was the pagan name for the water used to extinguish the blight that came out burning from the bonfire after a sacrifice. They attributed great virtues to this water and used it very often in their ceremonies, as Christians would do with holy water🌀

Auga Lustral consists of two tracks: Batea and Branquia.

Batea is a ceremonious 140 that is a trip in itself. A hot steppa in which Andrae shows her mastery with basslines and percussions (yes, once again) to make a plot twist at the end with some luminous vocals that resemble a rebirth.

Branquia is a dark and ritualistic halftime, full of complex breaks and dreamlike atmospheres that Andrae manages to turn suddenly somehow(yeah, gurl is a genius) into a sort of sexy and mysterious Black Lodge.

Beatrice M.'s Bait invites Trois-Quarts Taxi System back into the fold for both the artist’s and label’s debut album release, ‘Plexus’. Leaning into innovative 140 mutations, Trois-Quarts Taxi System dedicates his first long-format release to exploring the depth of this space and stepping away from his usual 170/80 sound. A deep meditative journey of introspection.

Taking the name ‘Plexus’ from a key he found in the street, the album is split into various parts with the heart of album comprised of three parts of ‘Plexus’ - drone-like soundscapes which retrace different states using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds combined with samples from an anonymous cassette found in the street. This hybridisation of sound is often influenced by ideas Trois-Quarts Taxi System comes across whilst working on his live shows; an artistic practice that is very important to his output. On this occasion, Trois-Quarts Taxi System has used this extended period to explore the bridge between dubstep, techno and experimental, pieced together with quiet ambient moments.

𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒆: Kakeru - Broken Bubbles [SC022]

There is a new artist from Japan followed by the name Kakeru who is giving his Shaw Cuts debut with „Raw Courage“, telling the story of an emperor besieged by an army who then entrusts his child to the Black Dragon Clan heading off to a dangerous journey.
An attempt to usurp the Ming Emperor's throne by the sinister martial artist simply known as „old monster" and his armies results in most of the palace being massacred. „Quagmire“ and its vibrant percussive pattern carried by a heavy broken kick and a driving bassline help the emperor’s infant son to escape and put in care of the Black Dragon Clan.
En route they are attacked by government forces but rescued by two knights. They prove to be a valuable addition to the party in subsequent encounters with their pursuers. „Mirror Forest“ and its laid-back atmosphere, mysterious vocal snatches and shining pads carried by an expressive drum pattern help the travellers parrying every sneaky attack on their journey.
Trying to head to the White Dragon Clan in order to seek for help, the squad has to masquerade and take several battles, always protecting the baby in tow. The razor-sharp percussions, corrosive bass and thrashing kick of „Swaying“ tremendously supports the warriors in each fight.
Finally they make it to the temple of the White Dragons where they show their Black Dragon seal as a sign of solidarity. But all of a sudden the mood changes. „Broken Bubbles“ and its menacing atmosphere built up by a monstrous sub bass, reduced but impactful drums and subtle synth elements underline the potential threat. Did they walk into a trap? Is there enough energy left for one big fight? Raw courage is vital now.
