Premiere: David Castellani - Electrochemical (Matrixxman Remix) 

David Castellani is back on his Noetic imprint with “Electrochemical EP”, featuring a remix from Matrixxman. 

Italian modular synthesist David Castellani will release the last installment of introductory EP’s from his Noetic label this October. “Electrochemical EP” is Castellani’s most dynamic and impactful yet, and features a rework from the formidable US producer Matrixxman. 

Kicking off is “Electrochemical”. A booming kick drum opens up the record & immerses listeners instantly. Heavily distorted synth notes punch out the melody, intertwining with a parade of cymbals, hi hats and a rapid snare drum. In classic Castellani style, he builds the mood with subtle elements, including the lingering baseline that slowly wobbles and shakes, creating an air of unpredictability. After an emotive crescendo, the melody pivots to a trippy acidic overflow that dominates the track before a solitary kick drum closes out. Next, Matrixxman presents his rework of the title track. He alchemizes it into an ethereal, futuristic composition and combines animalistic sounds with a reverberating kick. Far more sinister than anything else on the record, he seamlessly morphs the original into something wild and eccentric. Gentle chords are slowly pushed into earshot, but never eclipse the main melody. The bass drum dominates while snapping snare drums and hi hats add texture and balance. A menacingly ominous remix by the American producer that injects a dark atmosphere to the record.

“Acid Test Microdose Mix '' launches with a buoyant 303, robust kick and distant shakers that dance under the growing acid line. Slick claps and extra acid twinged elements dance around the vigorous kick drum, delivering a weighted punch. While the differences are subtle from the Macrodose mix, they’re no less effective - a more stripped back, considered version is presented here. This lean 303 workout is characterized by it’s powerful kick drum and a range of rolling percussion that allows the melody to flow. “Acid Test Macrodose Mix '' opens with a sole 303 acid line, loop of keys and a pulsating kick drum that pushes the tempo along. The bass drum is used somewhat sparingly in the track, allowing minimal elements to shine, before charging back in with unbridled power. The acid line distorts and twists throughout with weaving counter melodies, making this edit a disorientating cut armed with squelches, snares and hi hats that burst

Munich-based duo Glaskin, brothers Jonathan and Ferdinand Bockelmann, have become pivotal voices in modern techno, known for their residency at the legendary Blitz Club and standout releases on labels like Mutual Rytm and Figure. Their live sets channel dynamic, forward-thinking energy, and now they bring that momentum to FJAAK's ever-expanding CROWD family.

With the Blue Light EP, Glaskin deliver four impeccably groovy tracks that balance stripped-down flair and shimmering texture. "Blue Light" opens the EP with mellow synth tones, a lean, hypnotic beat and a vocal loop murmuring 'here we go' that signals the underground journey ahead. Next up is "Captcha", releasing as the single, where a spoken female voice is layered atop rhythmic percussion, marrying atmosphere with groove-driven momentum. On the B-side, "Tape", digs deep into rolling uncompromising techno territory, strict in structure yet irresistibly danceable. The EP rounds out with "Prophat Tool Board", stepping slightly into house-leaning warmth, its broader rhythm and melodic warmth offering a fitting counterpoint to the brooding energy before it.

The Blue Light EP is Glaskin's debut on CROWD and a shrewd expansion of the label's sound palette: richly textured techno made for both peak-time impact and immersive listening. To celebrate the release on the label, Glaskin will join label-founders FJAAK for a CROWD night at Nitsa Club in Barcelona on October 10, an event primed to showcase the raw energy and precision behind their studio work. The Chunkers sound has gone global! Stepping up for the eighth volume of Sally C’s influential imprint is Paperkraft from Japan.

The ascendent producer in a mainstay of the Osaka scene and has been on Sally’s radar in recent times thanks to a standout EP on Physical Education that had a “real driving breaky old skool” vibe she loves. Elsewhere he’s dropped the tight ‘Not C but K’ on Homage, remixes of Gearmaster on Hidden Assets and material on Mindhelmet and Tombolo.

His contribution to the BSC cannon is thrilling from the get-go. The lead ‘Play Somethin’ Nasty’ is a natural born Chunker, bursting with attitude and sass. Simultaneously colourful, yet cohesive, it mixes up playful hip house vocals with plump b-lines and plenty of rave energy, before a squelchy bass frenzy highlights the second stanza.
‘Funky Blah Blah’ is informed by ‘90s Italo and funky house and is a cute bridging track with plenty of character.

‘Drop The O.S.B.’ is a legit fire cut that’s already become a favourite of Job Jobse after it ignited DC10 this summer. It takes the old skool rave spirit of ‘Play Somethin’ Nasty’ and amplifies it to 11, resplendent with rapid- fire raps, hoovers and a mammoth key-driven riff. ‘Let it Whip’ is a slick DJ tool that channels understated hard house energy, powered by an addictive vocal loop.

Paperkraft follows BELLA, Eliza Rose, Papa Nugs and remixes Peach and CARISTA in joining the Big Saldo’s Chukers family as Sally C delights in growing the label via a carefully curated roster of artists.
