Fear is the first stage of the Ratflak cycle.
The encounter with this sound begins in a register of unease. Psychoacoustically, the untrained ear is exposed to auditory conditions that bypass rational interpretation and act directly on the body. Heartbeat accelerates, muscles tense, and the impulse to withdraw arises. It mirrors the startle reflex described in psychophysiology, yet here the trigger is not physical danger but acoustic confrontation: sound that rejects harmony and order.

In this context, music is stripped of its aesthetic frame and processed as alarm. Ratflak’s architecture emphasizes this: percussive strikes echo the language of sirens, noise overwhelms the perceptual field and induces disorientation, synthetic timbres sound alien, beyond the natural. The listener, deprived of reference points, enters cognitive overload in which perception narrows to a single axis — the recognition of threat.

Fear, in Ratflak’s philosophy, is not an error but the beginning of transformation. It is the first red flag: sound that refuses to please, but warns. Through fear, the ground is prepared for the stages that will follow — anger, denial, and ultimately, acceptance.

Hailing from Raw Culture, Anna Funk Damage returns with his third release on the Roman label, delivering a record as fierce as it is intimate. Tarantola was born out of a winter suspended between contrasting emotions – melancholy, anger, love, confusion – distilled into a sound that transforms personal fragility into collective energy. There’s no pursuit of perfection here, but rather an urgency running through the veins, taking shape across supersonic punk, wave, ambient and industrial.

Each track is an emotional fragment, a bite that leaves its mark: from the electric tension of Vivere Distaccati to the feverish rush of Trasmissione, from the rawness of Decadente to the hypnotic title track Tarantola, which embodies the beating heart of the album. 

Side B unfolds into more nocturnal and intimate landscapes, from Chiang Mai to the disenchanted sincerity of Lavoro Troppo, closing with a party that carries the bittersweet taste of reality.

Tarantola is a journey into the chaos of human emotions, an album that doesn’t just narrate but pulls you deep into its sonic labyrinth, giving noise back its vulnerable yet powerful soul.

Machine Cult — the Amsterdam-based electronic platform run by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe — returns with the Edition Four release party at OT301 on 7 November.

The new V.A. compilation features tracks from Garçon Taupe, Bertram, 2:29, Beau Wanzer, Déandrah, and Masha Wordpress. At the launch, all contributing artists will play DJ sets, with Déandrah providing live visuals throughout the night.

Expect an evening of potent electronics and immersive visuals, celebrating the forefront of the underground.

Every motion leaves an echo.
A delay so small it feels like memory,
folding back into what made it.

Some parts of us cancel out — out of phase, out of step —
while others ring louder,
resonant at their point of friction.

The closer we listen,
the more we hear the shape of time itself:
not in repetition, but in resistance.

Turn the gain high enough,
and every system sings its own name.

Nothing moves forward without delay.
Every signal returns amended,
shifted by experience.

What we call resonance
is simply agreement through distortion —
a frequency where return and loss sound the same.

Civilization, too, is a filter:
attenuation at the edges,
a boost where the noise gathers.

Push the circuit far enough,
and even silence begins to oscillate —
slightly altered, slightly late.

The self is a comb filter —
a body made of delays and reflections.

What we say
returns a few milliseconds later.
At low frequencies, we disappear;
near our cut-offs, we bloom.

Maybe living
is just tuning the loop
until it almost sings itself apart,
but not quite — building toward a new start.

Krssv delves into a more electropop dimension with this single. "El Precio" (The Price) is a song that has been part of their live sets for four years and has undergone numerous transformations until arriving at this final version. It's an eschatological premonition of the nouveau riche and a symbolic connection to the 1990s in Argentina and the current political and economic situation in the country.

Krssv uses samples from television from that era along with their own vocals, accompanied by intense basslines and industrial sounds,
to maintain a form of expression in the dancing audience.

The White Chief project has been defined by her creator as the background character for self_sabotage deconstruction. Crisis Records returns after a five-year hiatus with Archives EP, a new release from Imre Kiss and Norwell. Recorded between 2015 and 2020, the tracks mark the duo's first collaboration since their acclaimed Ad Astra EP seven years ago.

Across the EP, Norwell's sparkling arpeggios sit comfortably alongside Imre's atmospheric pads. The sharp, metallic drum programming anchors the tracks with cold, rhythmic precision, while rich basslines, occasional squelching acid, and eerie vocal samples create a captivating, hypnotic atmosphere.

There is a strong sense of nostalgia throughout, with hints of Kraftwerk and Detroit's Drexciya woven into the sound, yet the pair still manages to craft something that feels distinctly their own.

Shifting Bits marks the first full-length statement from 2:29, a rising young artist from the Netherlands whose debut track appeared earlier this year on Dalmata Daniel’s Pride Or Die compilation. That release was not only his introduction to the label, but his first official released track and now followed by a fully realized eight-track cassette bringing his voice into sharp focus.

Rooted in shadowy, melody-streaked electro, the five original tracks (including one self-rework) revolve around the idea of transition and transformation. The title Shifting Bits reflects 2:29’s background as a software engineer: in computing, shifting bits alters values, creates new ones, or even causes loss, an irreversible process that parallels the way sound, workflow, and artistic intention evolve. Moving from DAW-based attempts to a more tactile hardware approach, these tracks capture the moment where experimentation starts crystallizing into a distinct voice.

The cassette is rounded out by three remixes: a distorted and vintage-melodic rework from fellow Dutch producer Betonkust who is also well-known on Dalmata Daniel, a darker, driving version by Croatian veteran Le Chocolat Noir, and a contribution from Budapest’s Hadron Lundgren, his third appearance on the label, who reshapes the original into cold, atmospheric form.

Shifting Bits captures a phase of artistic development: subtle changes accumulating into a new direction, where each shift adds a different weight and character to the sound.
