Back on Dispatch following 2019's Sub Rosa’ and ‘Orbital’ EPs, Ben England aka Natural Forces delivers the stunning ‘Sense Memory EP’. Formerly one half of dnb production duo Basic Unit, his output as Natural Forces takes a much deeper and reflective tone – exploring minimal liquid sounds, packed with the type of progression and intricate details that make his music a perfect fit for Dispatch Recordings.

Title track ‘Sense Memory’ is a reflective, minimal stepper built around filtered vocals and classic liquid funk elements. Reminiscent of that early Creative Source sound, this one almost sounds straight from the dancefloors of Swerve.

Guiding things into tougher territory throughout the EP, Native Elements shows he knows how to work a bass synth just right, from the rolling ‘Birthright’ to the abstract jazz fused jungle drums of ‘Genesis’ via the heavy-hitting ‘Identity’. As the experimental track ‘Downwards’ rolls out, the snarling bass and off-key synth lead the listener deeper. The final track, ‘Lower Decks’, sees Natural Forces in full choppage mode, with precision edits and drumfunk-esque chops completing the EP with a heavyweight banger.

S.P.Y has been deep in his Bristol-based lab riling up a storm since the release of his killer double album ‘Back To Basics: Chapters 1+2’. His hard-drives are overflowing with sketches and scores, now he's ready to rise from the shadows with a three-part drum & bass blast - ‘Alone In The Dark’.

EP:1 brings two distinct shades. Opener ‘Keep On Searching’ rolls deep with a signature S.P.Y bassline moving slowly across sultry vocal fragments. ‘Unlimited Love’ brings uplifting summer warmth with an inviting male vocal lead, set and ready for festival season.

A ragga vocal throws back to jungle roots in ‘Soldier’, this alongside ‘Black Ops’ makes two surefire weapons for recruiting the early morning D+B troops. The depth of the forest was unknown to those who lived at its verge. Shadows cast from the dense canopy seemed to reach out towards those who passed close by, wisps of darkness unfurling and twisting around the limbs of the youngest that dared to play at its sinister edge. The oldest stories of its roots passed across the creaking voices of the town pensioners hunched in the safety of others, discretely whispered and shot through with fearful looks. The allure of that dense and ancient place stretched back eternal, and bitter consequence waited for those who breached its dark heart.  The crew ignored the nonsense of such crones, pulling the carts of equipment under the cover of dusk until the sounds of the town were but a memory. The speaker stacks were raised against the night, strings of lights hung between the trees and purity of disturbed bass rolled against the surrounding trunks as they disentangled themselves from the mundane fiber of the lives they left behind. Twisting against one another as they let flood serotonin delight, they ignited an orgy of sonic symbiosis as the rave found its wings and took flight. The spores drifted imperceptibly into the clearing from the darkness around, lodging without discomfort in the eyes, ears and noses of the gathered young. And then the screaming started, the undulating mass of the gathering turned inward… devouring itself as limbs were separated from bodies, necks ripped as skin tore loose and the blood flowed freely over the gnashing faces of those left alive at the KILL PARTY…

Starting out as a duo, the Commix name has graced some of Drum & Bass’ leading labels since coming to prominence in the early 2000’s, and the debut album, ‘Call To Mind’, holds the honour of being the first solo artist album for historic label Metalheadz. The lead single, 'Be True', has long since cemented its place in Drum & Bass history as an anthem on the grandest scale, and the album itself was incredibly well received across the electronic music spectrum and is widely regarded as one of the best D&B LPs of all time.

As a DJ his focus is on the deep, the experimental and the musical. Drawing on his wealth of experience in both Drum & Bass and 4x4 based genres, he joins these styles together in a mesmerising weave, defying genre and categorisation, that cements his reputation as one of the most respected artists in the scene today.

Originally from Newark, Notts, Critta’s earliest musicianship was recognised in his love for hip hop and rap. His fascination with it encouraged him to explore freestyle rapping with his friends everyday and this soon led to an interest in producing his own beats. A love of bass music carved an inevitable pathway into creating electronic music of his own. Being surrounded by the Nottingham scene whilst studying at his college Confetti in 2016, his productions started with 140/dub. Now he lives in Bristol studying Music Production and Sound Engineering at dBs music and, given the scene in the city, it has lightened his long-term underlying love of drum and bass.
Aside from his solo projects, he is part of a 2-part Neurofunk producer group called Raid. They have a debut release on the label Digital Assassins called  ‘Copper Splash’, have an upcoming EP ‘Dark Matter’ due for release early May 2020 and plenty more releases planned both with Digital Assassins and without.
