CA001 AK-One - Scenic Route EP (Preview Clips)

At night the city changed, it became unrecognisable under the bright hue of the neon lights that lined the streets. The people were different too, only a certain type of person would risk being out after darkness took hold — the type that had no fear; the type that were fuelled by desire and greed. They prowled from dusk till dawn — this dark city was now theirs for the taking.

For their next release, Budapest's Dalmata Daniel bring together the old school and the new, welcoming back label mate CT Kidobó for a split EP alongside electro maestro Maelstrom. The fifth outing in their Split series, both producers use analogue hardware to explore the dark corners of forceful electro across two tracks each. On the A-Side Maelstrom sets the pace with heavy, interstellar rhythms before CT Kidobó takes the reins on the flip with two mysterious synth-driven cuts for dark nights and dark deeds.

LYO Presents : Driving Blind (Vol. 3) Snippets // OUT 16/12/2022

Bologna’s Random Numbers unveils the ‘You Are Dreaming! (Remixes) of La Serpiente this June, featuring Elena Colombi, BXP, Big Hands, Front de Cadeaux and Wang Inc. on remix duties.

The Italian Random Numbers imprint has become synonymous with boundary breaking, left of centre sounds since 2014, launched by BXP and White Raven who regularly feature on the label, it also showcases a wide variety of experimental Italian artists and others beyond across the globe. Often embracing the resurgence of the cassette format as well as vinyl and digital. Here the label shines a light on Amsterdam via Milano artist La Serpiente aka Marco Segato who makes a welcome return to the label and has also featured his mystical, post-industrial leaning works on the likes of brokntoys, XCPT, Dionysian Mysteries and Sons Of Traders among others.

Opening this remix package of ‘You Are Dreaming!’ is the acid-laced, slowly unfurling psychedelic original, followed by Front De Cadeaux’ percussive focused rework.

Label co-founder BXP then opens the B-Side, turning in a mind-altering interpretation fuelled by modulating synth whirrs, shuffled drums and bumpy bass hits. 

The ‘Big Hands Remix’ then ups the tempo, embracing a more off-kilter Techno feel employing the originals hypnotic chimes with skippy drums and fluttering resonant licks before Elena Colombi induces a dreamy, trance like state via fluttering bells, haunting voices and elongated bass drones. 

Lastly as a digital bonus, Wang Inc. turns in the final remix, a fourteen minute tribal-tinged journey through organic rhythms, oscillating synth lines and fragments of the original composition.

some more bits that at some point or another were either thought of as finished never finished. jan10 is purely a digitakt jam from around 2023 that I always wanted to flesh out but never got around to it. leap started sometime around 2021 and never left the hard drive after returning to it every year or so. close is just a bunch of probability music that I thought turned out to be nice.

cover art is a photo taken maybe somewhere in between washington and california, i'm unsure.

Imre Kiss returns to Crisis for his first solo offering on the label. 

He kicks things off with ‘Time Spent Well’, an emotional roller coaster 
between Italo and New Beat. ‘Hysteric (3am mix)’ as it’s title suggest, is a no style Acid trip intended for smoke and strobe-filled basements. 

The repetitive bassline and hefty 808 drums of ‘Repeater’ are a perfect match looking to hypnotize the dance floor, while the title track ‘Mer de Désir’ has school analogue feel to it, reminiscing the solo work of TG’s Chris Carter.  

Closing up the EP is Auratekh’s lush re-imagination of ‘Mer de Désir’ to a journey back to the progressive house era of the noughties.
