Liam van Ryn has been recording and composing since 2016 and has released under a number of different guises.

‘Hatch Dream’ is his first full length solo album, which began to take shape in early 2020 when he engaged in a slower and more inward looking creative process. 

‘Hatch Dream’ is often optimistic, at times pensive; an album that is welcoming but that reveals darker undercurrents. Unafraid to embrace fleeting moments creatively, it reflects the ephemeral nature of memory.

Before I get back to finishing work on the album this is another example of a track from forthcoming album 'Regular fit' by my side project 'Bin day!' (which is again just me, but having a venture into some song writing for a change). The album is somewhat cynical but meant with a sprinkle of humour. This track lyrically was inspired by some ex-colleagues from the civil service who were very adept at appearing busy, shall we say. Still a guide vocal and I may tweak the mix, but

I wrote this whilst in hospital receiving a stem cell transplant, one of my brothers being the donor.  I was able to refine it with the help of Neil Foster, who worked in the hospital as a music as therapy teacher.  I was feeling particularly down at the time, full of chemo drugs and missing my wife.  It was certainly good therapy for me.

Matt McGain - Backburner

This is a collection of tracks from my first ever band which was started in 1990, was mostly active until 1994 then made a few sporadic recordings until 1999.
 Initially a covers band with no vocalist, we transitioned into recording original instrumentals at home on an old Fostex X-15 1980s 4-track, using plenty of experimentation/innovation to get the most out of just 4 tracks. Common Road were myself, Matt McGain, Cliff Poole and Tim McGain. I will periodically add further tracks - enjoy!
