With a preference for the minimalist funk that's typical of labels like Accelerate, Phono and Mosaic, Jan Kreuger is a master of creating brain meltingly frenetic journies - working the grooves in his own accomplished and off kilter way. He's been DJing for 20 years now so has the benefit of experience as well as the knowledge – though you can qualify his taste as a selector by delving through the back catalogue of the Hello?Repeat label he co-runs with Daze Maxim out in Berlin. 

Jan’s no stranger to our dancefloors and we're fully aware of the storm he is set to cook up come Saturday night when he joins east London's Toi Toi collective up in Room Three but just in case you needed educating in the esteemed selector's capabilities - and also because a mix from Kreuger is always a pleasurable listening exercise - we asked him to record an exclusive mix for us to present to you...

Vicmari is one of South Africa’s most distinctive electronic music artists, blending hypnotic melodies, groovy bass lines, and acoustic, ambient sounds with classic House grooves.
His journey began in 2011 when he connected with Daniel Paul Behemann, founder of @slopemusic and @cabinet-records in Germany, who became a mentor and helped shape Vicmari’s sound. In 2016, Vicmari released his debut album Audiodidact on @slopemusic, which garnered support from artists like @brendonmoeller and @cabdrivers, quickly selling out all vinyl pressings.

Building on his success, Vicmari refined his live sets, creating immersive experiences that blend hypnotic grooves and transcendent melodies. He’s performed at major events such as Rocking The Daisies, Afrika Burn, Cape Town’s Light House Festival, and Ultra Festival, known for his signature mix of melody, mood, and warm grooves that energize any dancefloor.

It all started with a simple Handpan recording...
Its sound sparked something deep inside me. Then came the Afro-house style kicks and percussions, building the pulse of the track.
With my lovely PSR Santana electric guitar, I added some ambient tones, a floating space between earth and sky.
Finally, the soulful Persian Kamanche joined in, bringing the spirit of the East into this modern blend.
That’s how Echo of Us was born, the echo of all of us, in a world where borders are fading.

گاهی موسیقی از برنامه و ایده شروع نمی‌شه، از یک لحظه شروع می‌شه.
یه روز صمیمی‌ترین هم‌راهم یک هنگ‌درام آورد به استودیوی من در دوسلدورف…
صداش و وجودش فضا رو پر کرد، انگار نوری وارد اتاق شد.
با Neumann TLM 102-و Avalon Sp 737 preamp ضبطش کردم، بعد چند کیک و پرکاشن آفروهاوس ساختم و کار جوون گرفت.
بعد با گیتار مورد علاقم PSR Santana چند لایه اتمسفریک اضافه کردم، و فضای کار رویایی‌تر شد.
اما جادو وقتی اتفاق افتاد که حسین کاشف با کمانچه‌اش اومد.
با هم خندیدیم، گپ زدیم، او نواخت و من ضبط کردم…
یه قطعه که نه فقط از صدا، بلکه از احساس و دوستی ساخته شد.
