@XXXTheLabel is a new dutch label created by a bunch of friends that run the eponym "XXX" club nights in Amsterdam. We supported their very cool first release by "Jack Pattern" through our infamous Youtube channel and now comes in a few weeks the second one by Lipsky brother's Simple Symmetry . We do really like their unique fresh blend and premiered not so long ago their track Kalimba on "Cosmic Pint Glass". But to change a bit the game, here is the Marvin & Guy's Afterhour Mix, a long 10 mn epic cut you'd already wish to hear at 6am. in a summer beach festival on those "hands in the air" euphoric moments ! Co-founder of Duro, Moises Ramirez, aka Moisees, is back with a new EP that follows his excellent remix of "THXTASY" by Mijo and his latest release, "Train Station Philosophy". Here we present the remix of their original song "The Death Of Hope", by the Italian producers Younger Than Me, which envelops us in a nocturnal mystery, where the riffs go up and down the scale as the track progresses.

Leading Mexican label Duro welcome countryman Rigopolar for four of his fantastically expansive and expressive disco tunes.

The now US based Rigopolar is a cosmic explorer and space sound aficionado with credits on the likes of Tom Tom Disco dating back five or so years. His mix of disco and techno has taken him to gigs round the world, podcasts for Soma and remixes on the likes of Beat is Murder.

Brilliant opener ‘Black Mantis’ is a spooky cut with a mysterious lead that takes you into a mystic forest. The drums move things on as sci-fi sounds and withering synths add details to this most evocative musical story. ‘Espiral’ is a colourful, psychedelic scandi-disco classic with looping arps taking you ever further into the stars. Its craftsmanship is second to none as it draws you deeper and deeper in.

The scintillating ‘Time’ is another lush cut with plenty of glistening and glowing synths. Always ascending through the mix, they lift your spirits and hands in equal measure while the deeper drums keep your feet moving. Last of all is ‘Crashes’, a slower and more melancholic track that is paired back to a steamy vocal and rolling drums. A poignant one-finger melody brings tenderness to this brilliantly introspective closer.

This is an exceptional trip though timeless disco with a difference.

The buzz of the cars waiting patiently in line and the hum of the trains racing underground made it hard to hear your thoughts, drowning out the plans formulating in your mind. You had to be on your a-game, it was every man for themselves in these situations. No smiles were cracked, no words were exchanged. It was time for a much needed injection of joy...

Nadav Spiegel AKA Autarkic and friend Neil Cohen launch their new label Age Of Self - a platform for both music and visual arts - with a three track EP from Nadav himself. Not willing to be constrained by genre, the label won't be navigated by a specific sound, only by what the pair are feeling. For their inaugural release their mission is simple: "to bring some joy and wit to the dark and grim dance floors of our recent times." Our pick is opening track 'A Number By Ilia Gosz' - a hypnotic and melodic cut punctuated by sharp synths and stuttering percussion.

PREMIERE: Autarkic - A Number By Ilia Grosz [Age Of Self]

From the moment of its release, Iñigo Vontier’s El Hijo del Maiz has become one of the most gripping albums of the moment. With South American and Middle Eastern sounds and his conception of music as ritual, the Mexican DJ keeps electronica in check as a valid mix of influences. The EP El Hijo Del Maiz Remixes, marks the end of an episode which started, in good company, last autumn on the Lumière Noire label.
The second track of his album, Bo Ni Ke, is distinguished by its original - almost implausible - universe, with a Japanese-inflected vocal filter and oriental flutes taking the beats into a crazy trance. Leaning on the 4/4 rhythm, Simple Symmetry’s remix of the track is also very playful (Iñigo Vontier recently remixed Nar for Simple Symmetry). The Moscow duo, noted in particular for the brilliant EP Plane Goes East released on Disco Halal (the Moscoman label which makes the link between east and west), pulls the track over to another - less terrestrial more psychedelic - universe, in their well identified ethno-underground style.

Theus Mago serves up a hypnotising triplet of tracks on the ‘Apache Nights’ EP for Dave Harvey’s Futureboogie, each cut brimming with psychedelic tendencies and an assured chugging pace, and British stalwarts, Chicken Lips, are on hand with a tantalising remix. 

Hailing from Mexico, Theus Mago may also be familiar to many as the man behind Bufi, and across both aliases, has released singles and albums for the likes of Electrique Music, Turbo, Roam Recordings, and his own Duro imprint.

‘Apache Nights’ is built upon an irresistible booming dudwise b-line and tight and lively rhythm section, as esoteric melodies and trippy samples & tones pan across the sound board.  British duo, Chicken Lips, have admirably served many year’s service in the alt.disco genre, and alongside their ground-breaking productions on Kingsize and Azuli, are probably more renowned for the raft of remixes turned in over the years for everyone from Newcleus to Simian Mobile Disco, Ladyhawke to Tiga, Ennio Morricone to Soul Mekanik.  For their ‘Chicken Lips Malfunction’ of ‘Apache Nights’, we’re slapped around the chops with a gargantuan nine-minute night ride!

‘Piu Mosso’ jumps on board the magic carpet for a transcendental journey, whilst ‘Sergio Ramos’ has Theus teaming up with Thomass Jackson (Gomma/Calypso Records) for a raw and minimal workout, brain scrambling sonics and a contagious groove that closes this exceptional release.
